List of 'mainstream' store bought SCD legal foods

I wondered is there any list anywhere of SCD legal store bought type

foods?

I wanted to create on in our list files if there is not.. of course

with the disclaimer that you always need to double check ingredients

preiodically...

I know you all have suggested brands of hot dogs and juices and

bacon and etc that are SCD legal it would be nice to say here is the

list... So if there is one please let me know where it is if not can

we create one?

It would be soo helpful and eliminate alot of the is this legal

messages..

You are such a nice person to think about helping colleague- scd-

ers...and to make our lives abit easier...

BUT!

The very dangerous trap that one can fall into with these kinds of

lists is that manufacturers do not care whatsoever if food is starch-

free or safe for any diet at all. A lot of manufacturers buy their

ingredients bulk-wise thru the internet. Sources are a mystery, added

illegals a real threat. Buy and sell, sell and buy, all over the

world. Manufacturers do have a habit of changing their ingredients

often. They also like to add all kinds of coatings to expand shelf

life. I have seen coatings made from - believe it or not - casein.

With meat the trick in the Netherlands is to inject animal protein

and water to add extra weight to chickens. What else will they come

up with? Manufacturers try everything to NOT have to put ingredients

on the label. You understand that I have learned to seriously

distrust manufacturers.

Personally, I think the risk to put such a list on the internet is

too big. I have read that Elaine wants us to get familiar and

acquainted with the **concept and exact principles** of scd, not to

memorize lists of juice this and chicken that versus hot dog one

versus shampoo two. In Breaking The Vicious Cycle she hardly mentions

brands at all. I'm sure she's a big fan of long-term thinking for

long-term solutions.

I don't know any other way to write a kindly intended warning like

this. It's not meant to come across as harsh or anything. Dutch is my

first language and it is very direct, foreigners tell me.

Brand availability differs from region to region.

Example; Heinz Tomato Juice which is legal and Maple Leaf bacon with 33% less

salt are readily available in Ontario, Canada but not in the U.S.

The diet is followed in many other countries. it just would not be possible to

list even those few legal stor brought products in one place.

Or, perhaps you can dialogue with those in your area and exchange information on

products known to be SCD legal.

Sometimes one must sacrifice convenience in favor of reliability.
