Guest guest
Does anyone see a practice conflict or potential violation of any type if a pre-screen of individuals, utilizing SmartBalanceMaster, is completed by someone other than a physical therapist (PTA, AT, etc.) who has been trained in the procedure, and reports computerized results of tests which determines if individual is within norms according to pre-established criteria. The individual performing the test is not expected to determine the findings, only physically operate the equipment to complete the screen. In the event that the person screened does in fact have a concussion later, as a result of an athletic event, a post screen would be completed by a physical therapist. Interested in your thoughts. Also, apparently these screens cannot be done free as a community service with staff volunteering their time, due to conflict with current ACO rules and regs interpreting such a practice as being done to solicit business. How would we establish fair market value of a balance screen which takes approx. 15 minutes to complete? (as opposed to what would normally be charged for a balance evaluation? Thanks in advance for your feedback. Carol Rehder, PT Manager, Physical Therapy Genesis Medical Center rehder@... A J.D.
