Guest guest
For a child who does not eat eggs (can but won't), what do you feed them for breakfast on the intro diet and early stages? We have been preparing to start SCD by removing illegals (except breakfast), and I am now ready to start at the beginning this weekend (Happy Mother's Day!), but I have no idea what to give him for breakfast. He spat out both the chicken pancakes and banana pancakes on more than one occasion when I tried them. Under duress, he might take a few bites of an acorn squash pancake, but only if I put honey on it and I don't think that is legal at the beginning (and I don't thing acorn squash is on the intro either). He won't eat chicken or meat for breakfast. Two other things to consider are that we are remaining CF on SCD and that eats HUGE amounts of food, especially at breakfast. He is 5 years old, 48 pounds, and is quite lean. He is currently eating a small piece of GFCF toast with nut butter and prune spread (with some supplements hidden in there), about 4 palm sized pancakes made substantially of eggs, vegetbles and fruit with some protein powder and tapioca starch thrown in to hold it together and to improve the consistency. I have tried making those without the illegals and he won't eat it. He also has some fruit and some juice as well. Sorry for the long post. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Guest guest
How long have you been doing the SCD? Still on intro.? How about a nut butter pancake? Cashew butter mixed with banana and egg? You may also try some smoothies with banana and pear and some juice. Does he have D. or C. if not D. then you can probably move forward a little. We did the intro for about 2 days due to C. and needing more foods as well. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi , we have all been there with our children and their pickiness, My daughter would not touch a vegetable , and she would only eat chicken nuggets , and now she eats chicken, turkey and fish freely , and all vegetables , Try to change the texture of the vegetables that can help a lot , for example like cooked carrot coins , pureed, or cooked julienne, a lot of times it is the texture that our kids don't like , like another example is raw cauliflower put on a food processor to resemble rice particles and then cook it on the stove with a little water to soften , and it really resembles rice particles , after it is done you can add a little oil and salt , I know cauliflower is not on the intro , but later you can enjoy rice again ., and for fried rice you can add a egg, and some frozen peas and carrots , it is really very tasty , I eat it with my kids we have a stir fry and fried rice Chinese scd food, really any type of food can be duplicated to make it scd legal , and the taste is so much better, and your body will think you by nourishing it with healthy foods. For the intro you may want to try the sneaky pancake recipe and make them into waffles instead , that is usually very kid friendly , You can even follow Jody G's league and go to Wal-Mart and buy a Scooby doo waffle iron. Also a great kid friendly food for dinner would be the meat crust pizza , ground chicken breast works well usually 1 lb , and you can make a carrot veggie sauce , My kids love it , and with the chicken is resembles more of a pizza crust because of the light color. it does get easier , especially once you can enjoy the good stuff. Guest guest
Hi , Hopefully once you are well into SCD, your little guy will not have to eat as much, because he will be absorbing his nutrients better. Here's the pancake recipe I've been making for myself in the morning. I got it from Carol, on our list! 1 egg 1 rounded tablespoon of peanut butter dash cinnamon I blend it in my tiny blender until it is a perfectly smooth mixture, then fry it on medium in a buttered (you'll have to use oil) frying pan. I get one big pancake, and I drizzle a bit of honey on it. So far my won't eat it, but my little daughter, , loves them! Sue (from Pickering) Mom to , 4.5, formerly?
