Noreen,

The reg for NY says you need on site supervision.

Noreen,

To my understanding, this a state regulation and licensing issue. Check with

your state's reg and licensing dept.

Of course, there is also the ethical considerations.

In Wisconsin, if there is no PT on site, the temporary licensed professional

can't be seeing patients. They may as well have the day off unless they can use

the time to polish up documentation, etc.

Good luck.

Subject: Supervision on PT with temp license

Group,

Does anyone have documentation of exactly what level of supervision a DPT (new

grad 2010) with a temp. license requires? Must it be on site supervision at all

times or is it OK to have licensed PT " on call " and available. We are located in

NY state and up until this time have not had a problem always having a licensed

PT on site. (We have 3 PT's and 2 PTA's) in our SNF/ Rehab. I have not been able

find much guidance from the NYAPTA website.

I know that about a year ago I needed this same info regarding an OTR with a

temp license and the NYAOTA, DID answer me and stated that general supervision

was required and that requirement could be met with a licensed OTR available by

phone. I would appreciate any help or guidance! We have a one day period when we

may not have a PT onsite due to a vacation day off and an impending birth!!

Thank you in advance.
