Guest guest
This past Saturday both and I woke up extremely tired. had one of her bad nights after Rebif which kept her awake, and that usually keeps me more or less awake too. And we had laundry to do, so no sleeping late despite it being Saturday. We have a habit of making ourselves a nice weekend-breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays, or, failing that, at least one of the days. The kind with freshly baked (OK, the bake-off variety...) bread, still warm, and tasty cheese, marmalade (apricot usually), etc. Sometimes egg. Coffee, of course... And we did that this past Saturday too, knowing it was the only chance that weekend, as we were going to be away from home Sunday morning. But seldom have two people operating in a fully functioning kitchen had bigger difficulties getting a breakfast on the table, I think... I managed to first knock the filter over and get coffee all over the sink. Then, in my second try to make coffee I had unknowingly pushed the button on the filter holder to "closed", causing all the water to stay in the filterholder (but, unfortunately not in the filter...) and resulting in a sort of coffee mud, completely undrinkable even if you'd filter it again (I know, I've tried...). And then went to put the lid on the marmalade jar, to keep it fresh during the uncertain wait for something resembling coffee, but instead she picked up her box of snus ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snus ) and put it in the jar (it was round, so close enough...). I heard a surprised: "I swear that in my mind that WAS the marmalade lid!" behind me and turned around to see the uncommon combination of tobacco and fruit... In fact we were SO terrible at making breakfast that it was almost funny, although frustrating of course, I mean we sure needed that coffee... I think that if you manage to fail in making coffee. Twice. In a row. And then proceed to put tobacco in your marmalade you should probably just deem yourself incompetent to make breakfast and go out to have it someplace... Unfortunately the closest breakfast place is 30 minutes away, and we didn't really have the time...Today, despite the fact that had her Rebif last night, we have both slept well. And this morning was an exemplary relaxed spring morning, with perfectly made coffee and filmjölk ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fil_(milk_product) ) and müsli. Not a weekend breakfast – not that much time for it, and not the same food – but still! What a difference a good night's sleep can make to a breakfast, huh? Hopefully we'll get a morning and breakfast like that this weekend as well.love/Reb

Guest guest
Correct! We eat it cold, with/in fil (a fermented milk product, easiest described as like sour cream but lower in fat), or yogurt. And we did that this past Saturday too, knowing it was=2 0the only chance that weekend, as we were going to be away from home Sunday morning. But seldom have two people operating in a fully functioning kitchen had bigger difficulties getting a breakfast on the table, I think... I managed to first knock the filter over and get coffee all over the sink. Then, in my second try to make coffee I had unknowingly pushed the button > on the filter holder to "closed", causing all the water to stay in the filterholder (but, unfortunately not in the filter...) and resulting in a sort of coffee mud, completely undrinkable even if you'd filter it again (I know, I've tried...). And then went to put the lid on the marmalade jar, to keep it fresh during the uncertain wait for something resembling coffee, but instead she picked up her box of snus ( http://en.wikipedia .org/wiki/ Snus ) and put it in the jar (it was round, so close enough...). Twice. In a row. And then proceed to put tobacco in your marmalade you should probably just deem > yo urself incompetent to make breakfast and go out to have it someplace... Unfortunately the closest breakfast place is 30 minutes away, and we didn't really have the time... > > Today, despite the fact that had her Rebif last night, we have both slept well. Not a weekend breakfast â€" not that much time for it, and not the same food â€" but still! What a difference a good night's sleep can make to a breakfast, huh? Guest guest
What a story. I think what makes it so funny is how well my husband and I can relate to it. Sounds so much like the two of us in the kitchen. Thanks for sharing and sleep well. Guest guest
I hope so too! We have plans for a nice, relaxing spring Saturday this weekend. With reading, snacks (olives, prosciutto, salami, fruit, cheese, etc., a sort of customized Spanish tapas thing), and cold drinks. If possible (that is, if the spring weather should decide to stick around for the weekend), outside. But should the spring take a break, our living room is nice too. It's a version of one of our most cherished vacation traditions: To bring books to an outdoor restaurant somewhere nice, find a table in the shadow, and spend a considerable amount of time enjoying coffee/soda/drinks/snacks/ice-cream/sandwiches while reading side by side and occasionally comment or quote something we are reading to each other. A bit quirky I suppose...But to us that really IS vacation.love/Reb>> Oh, dear, that morning sounds like some around here…. ;-)> > > > I'm certainly glad today was better for you!
