Something happened last night that scared the pootoutta me. I woke up with a wicked tickle in my throat, coughing and coughing, so hard I could not get my breath. Literally could not aspirate. I had to strain with everything I had to get air into me. I finally was able to sit up, it got a little better, but took several minutes before I could draw breath, and longer before I could breathe anywhere near normally. My chest hurt for hours with the strain. Anyone ever have anything like this happen? It scared me, I could have passed out and maybe worse. Thoughts? Ideas? Hey Akiba, :o)

I've read through the thread and you have an appt today?? Is that right? How'd it go? What did the doc say? I hope you have Bronchitis. <G> (I'm trusting you now what I mean by that <gg>).

I know the "wicked tickle" you're talking about. It's just there and as suddenly as it comes it intensifies. I know I start/try-to-start rapid swallowing, grabbing a drink (warm seems to work better than cold, though I don't usually get it fast enough), anything to keep the cough from starting. The cough takes everything. Can't breath, watering eyes, feeling like you've choked, the constricted throat (much like after choking), the squeaked voice, the throat not feeling okay for a while and being very cautious in clearing the throat or swallowing again for fear of setting something off. The first breaths little gaspy breaths, almost desperate breaths and it takes awhile before a true and good breath can be taken. I have had the coughing so hard that my stomach and sides hurt, from the muscles constricting so tightly.

It's not truly choking for me, as if choking on food or drink. I always sneeze after I've choked on something. LOL thinks it's funny. But it sure opens the airways and throat fast. LOL No tight throat, no squeaky voice and no watery eyes. Achoo and all better. LOL This isn't the same.

The tickle is "wicked". I like that term. It fits very well.

Did you notice if your throat felt suddenly very dry, too? There's not a lot of time between the tickle and the cough, so it's hard to notice much. lol But the dry is... arid. Picturing cracked earth, no life anywhere to be seen, dust blowing across the Savannah kind of dry. rofl

The cough comes as a result of the tickle. The same as the body would react to choking on foods, I imagine.

I've done this lots of times and never been ill. I also have asthma and this tickle and cough is in no way related.

Do you keep liquid close by? Again, warm (coffee, tea) seem to quell the tickle and and other sensations before the cough can set in.

And I'm burying my head as deeply as I can, so if my Mother is reading she might as well pretend she isn't lol... I can't swallow sometimes. It's a good thing I know about the sip of water trick. Saliva might help if there's enough drawn. Those muscles and whatnot in the throat simply will not work. Will NOT work. It is scary. I don't know if these things go together for me or not.

Anyway... did any of that sound similar?

Do you have Bronchitis? I hope you do. <gg>

You do? You mean, you do have Bronchitis? Good that it's something which will pass. Though I'll admit I'm a little bummed cuz it's kinda nice knowing someone else gets it? Ya know? But that would be mean and selfish of me, so I'm glad you're sick! LOL (Not really... I hope you're feeling much better, very soon).

I used to have a sign "why be normal?" loved it, fit me to a *T* Besides that, I can NEVER be "all right", I'll *always* be 1/2 left... We got in some awesome Tibetan quartz crystals, Rob is having a blast making talismans out of them, using hand-drawn copper wire...I just wish his equipment wasn't so loud! Those grinders and buffers are wicked loud....but the talismans are coming out incredible! Now to get some decent pics of them so I can post them on eBay... That ol' bear is still hugging me tightly, but it has eased a little. I'm off to beddy-bye now... Loveya Akiba -- Re: Very scary night Well huny, you aint never been right. yes, the appt is next Monday. And I will let everyone know when I get some pics up of these marvels...we got in another lot of stones today, these almost ALL look like Herkimer Diamonds (not a real diamond, a form of quartz that comes only from Herkimer NY.). so I have no cloe what they'll end up as. Might just use them to make energy grids for the house. But *that's* a whole 'nuther story... meanwhoo...I DID IT, I left the house today! Went out, got in the truck (with help, but I did) and off we went to Wally-world, where I spent 2 2/1 hours tooling around in my custom Wally-world power scooter...I filled my basket, and a cart that Robbin pushed...so we have groceries!!!! Not that we didn't, but now we're not in the "out of everything" category anymore. Robbin brought the money he has been earning to buy toys, and made me almost burst with pride when, when we went into the store, he asked for one of his precious dollar bills so he could put it in the bin for donations for the Children's Miracle Network! With the rest ($11) he bought a board game (Life) and he and Rob are upstairs right now playing. He worked hard for every dollar, so when he wanted to donate some I was, well...verklempt!!!!! I am raising a very sweet boy It is going to be very very cold tonight...oh, yes! And Rob found the first egg of the year yesterday! The chickens are starting to lay YAAYYAYYAYAYAYAYAAAAYYYY well, that's all from my end...How are all y'allz? Hugs Akiba -- Re: Very scary nightOh, Akiba, let us know when the pics are up on eBay? I would love to see these!Hugs,Challis Very scary nightSomething happened last night that scared the pootoutta me. Thoughts? Ideas?
