Guest guest
Sharon, I am glad you are able to get the power chair. You remain in my prayers. Hugs nne I saw my Internist on Wednesday. She is filling out the paperwork for me to have a power chair. I'm working through The Scooter Store and they faxed her all the paperwork to fill out. My doc said I definitely qualify for the power chair because I'm having so much trouble walking because of the pain in my feet and legs. She also said she believes the pain I get in my neck and head is nerve related because of the feeling I get that my skin is hot. My skin actually does get hot. She increased my Neurontin but I haven't started taking the increased dose. I'm already taking 2400 mg. and I hate to go back up. I used to be on 3200 mgs and I've worked hard to get down to 2400! I also have a bump on my hand by my knuckle that I had her look at. She said it is a arthritic nodule. Great. LOL I have several others that have been on my fingers for years but never hurt like this one does. I am bummed over my doctor thinking I qualify for a power chair. Isn't that stupid? I think that's it. I just know I'll feel better once I get moved!hugs to all))Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
I have been fighting to get mine. I got the prescription, did the PT evel, and PT faxed the Company and said "in her opinion I didn't need one" HER OPINION?!?!? WTF?!?!? What about the DR'S opinion? Meantime, my leg has gotten so bad I need a walker, so I called them all up and yelled, now we're trying again, but, get this, I have to go in for another face to face with the Dr! Apparently it has to be within 45 days. So next Wednesday, I have to go out and risk a busted something in the snow, to go to an appt I have already done, I can't get into the truck, have NO idea how I'll get to the Dr. I also had a sit-down with a social worker, she is going to try to get me some help, services, maybe some upgrades to the bathroom to make showering easier, possibly a ramp for the scooter, if I EVER GET the damned thing. Can you tell I am SO beyond frustrated? Hugs Akiba -- my doctor's visit I saw my Internist on Wednesday. She is filling out the paperwork for me to have a power chair. Guest guest
Hey Akiba. Im so sorry you have to deal with this. It is a bunch of crap. Obviously this pt has no clue what she is talking about. If I were you I would request a new eval by a n ew pt. Afterall if anyone is going to know who needs the damn thing it would be you! These things really make me mad so I can really understand your frustration. Im glad you gave them an earfull. Im not sure how you are gonna get there. But it is definetly a risk for you to go out. Maybe since they are the ones causing such a hassle they can get a medical van or some sorts to pick you up. Im glad you got a worker. Sounds like she cares enough to try to help. Guest guest
One thing that the docs need to be busted with is that stress in any form makes things rough for us - stress makes the pain worse - stress makes sleeping at night worse - stress makes dealing with the disease worse - the rat track just gets multiplied. Things that don't inconvenience them - throw us out of out of whack for a week - a ten o'clock appointment means getting up at 6am or earlier to get up and ready and get to the appointment. More than one appointment and we pay for it for a week or ten days - the mind freezes up - the pain goes to ten or higher and all we can do is cry. Even with a numbered to do list or a grocery list we can't remember everything on it. That means multiple trips to the store and more stress for us. KMart gives lip service to the ADA act - they only offer wheel chairs for the disabled - with no upper body strength shopping there is out. Wally World has scooters - but except for vitamens - if you are on a limited budget like me - they have priced themselves out of my shopping. Sav a lot, Dollar Store, Dollar Tree, Dollar Shop - good prices - but I end up with using a grocery cart for a walker - my doctor's visitI saw my Internist on Wednesday. I used to be on 3200 mgs and I've worked hard to get down to 2400!I also have a bump on my hand by my knuckle that I had her look at. She said it is a arthritic nodule. Great. LOL I have several others that have been on my fingers for years but never hurt like this one does.I am bummed over my doctor thinking I qualify for a power chair. Isn't that stupid?I think that's it. I just know I'll feel better once I get moved!hugs to all))SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Definetly! It dosnt make sense at all.She is no were near a doc. I thought her job was to check you out so she would know what to recomend about the chair? If it were up to her your doc would have sent you to her instead of ordering it himself. Now more time is being wasted by you having to go back to the doc! Not to mention you having to go out in that weather! You know the doc is going to say of course you need it and WTH? Did you call your docs office? Cant he just call the pt or go to the main people instead of her? Give me the # I will call them for you. This is ridiculous. If I can help at all just let me know. I want to give them a nice screamy earful. Thank God you have a walker. I know its not the same as a chair but hopefully will hold you over till they hurry this up. luv n hugz, cassy my doctor's visit I saw my Internist on Wednesday. Guest guest
The guy at The Scooter Store (they advertise heavily on TV and are national) told me there HAS to be a face to face with the doctor. It is a requirement of Medicare and I'm assuming Medicaid is the same. I was leery of The Scooter Store simple because they advertise so heavily but they have been wonderful. We'll see what happens now and how quickly it happens.Good luck, Akiba, getting all the help you need.hugs))Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Yeah, but I already *did* have the face-to-face with the Dr, back in Oct.! I guess the people that will be making mine get them from the Jazzy people, so I guess if/when, that will be what I get. If we're going to be on the same boat, at least we can use the same ramp....
