If only it were that easy. We could go around saying

" Back To Sleep " , " Beware of Choking Hazards " and

" Twenty Minutes of Massage Every Day " . It's just sad,

that's all.

This is just more BS from some Pharmacutical Company trained person who can

read from a book but not think for themself. A while back while I was trying

to figure out what exactly had happened to cause my child to change (never

formal dx autistic - regressions after elem school age vacs) I was looking at

sites regarding sensory integration, ADHD, CAPD, children who don't sleep and

some medical jerk (or vaccine co mascot) actually got on there and started

calling parents who wrote on the list munchausen! I think the vaccine

makers will stop at nothing to cloudy the issue and turn the blame on the

parents!

Well, I am quite the activist tonight! I have signed the petition,

written my senator (who is on the Frist committee), and have now

joined callyflower in setting this misguided OT straight (with all

due respect, I assure you).

Peace and grace,

Sally, mom to

Tom, 7yo dx AS but on the road to recovery

Ben, 5yo NT by the grace of God

Gracie, 1yo NT and unvaccinated

can you post the name of the paper this is posted to?

also the full name of the person who is saying this stuff,

because the email address you posted does not show up, but am needing

to click on it to write, but still cant see the email address.

thus cant write the name of the person in the greeting either.

this article is so furiating.

this is total doggie doo.

there is a autistic godson that have, and he was totally cuddled,

carried in a pouch against his mothers chest, for the whole time even

slept like that because he refused to be let down, until he was quite

many months (9-12 at least) and still slept with his mother till he

was 4-5, and was breast fed until then also.. she

practiced 'attachment parenting " and he has sensory issues... needs

his tags pulled off too...

so wonder what his PROBLEM is then?

sheesh... this woman makes mineself mad too.

Funny, I did infant massage on myASD son from infancy & he was also carried

in sling carriers & breastfed for 4+ yrs. He still co-sleeps with us.

He has incredible sensory issues.

So much for her theory.

This is very disturbing. I did everything right as an attachment parent:

shared sleep, baby slinging, Greenspan's floortime (even *before* my child

got sick with regressive autism) and breast fed my child for *five*

years. I've always attributed my son not being more ill than he was to my

breast feeding and our intensive interactions. Nonetheless, my son went

from hyposensitivity and semi-constant stimming to almost NT behavior in

less than a year of dietary modification and the addition of enzymes to his

diet. I promote attachment parenting because I believe it does help the

development of any child, esp. one who gets a serious childhood illness,

but I'd never, *ever*, claim a child was on the spectrum for not having

enough touch as an infant. (I know that there is something called Reactive

Detachment Disorder, but that has nothing to do with ASD.) I am speechless

that something like this would be printed in a newspaper.

I wouldn't even know where to begin in trying to correct this lady.

Avril, who wants to help but isn't sure how to make the best argument here.

Maybe the ASA or someone can set up a " recognition program " for the

" stupidest comment about autism of the year! " Between this and the

unsupported comments made against No-Fenol usage earlier this year, I think

we have a contest, lol.

Ugh you can count me in on sending her an email. People like this set

the thinking about autism back decades.

>> need the tags torn out of clothes reflect that they did not receive

enough touch

as an infant.

Sounds like a revised version of " blame the mother because she didn't " love "

the child enough. " That is what I also do not like about the older (and

fortunately dying off mantra) of some special diets:

" If you loved your child enough you would do the therapy I think you should.

If your child doesn't get better, that means you aren't doing it right. You

need to try harder. Your child isn't better because you are too lazy to

care. " You could say that about ANYTHING if you wanted to.

And then we have the sub-group of people clearly vaccine-damaged - these

parents DID do what was advised.

There is so much " attack the parents " going on right now. Oops, maybe it

never left...maybe it just keeps getting re-packaged.
