Guest guest
What is the latest rule regarding students and Medicare part B patients. Can students treat these patients under the direct one - one supervision of the CI? Is the rule the same for OP and SNF facilities? What about documentation? Guest guest
Hi, - Medicare pays for the services of licensed physical therapists and physical therapIST assistants, not those of students. So, as long as a therapist's time, energy, and attention are fully dedicated to that patient for that period of time, the work of his or her student will be that for which the therapist may bill and be paid. It is the cost of the clinic, insurance and therapist which is reimbursed under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for Part B. A costless student may not, therefore, generate charges to Part B. Hope that helps!
