Have you ever tried fish oil? I researched it for awhile because my doctor

suggested that I take it, just by feeling my skin, etc, and it's supposed to help

with asthma. Dr. Mercola of www.drmercola.com recommends Carlson's lemon

flavored cod liver oil. It's uncontaminated with mercury, comes from up

somewhere off of north norway. I ordered it from www.iherb.com. A friend of

mine's son had eczema and she gave him fish oil caps when it was really bad and

it helped.

I also use this cream on my son. It helps his eczema

better than any other cream I've tried.

Also, when he started taking VitA, his eczema improved

alot, though we still have occasional flareups from

chlorine or sweating.

My daughter Jenna (4 1/2 ASD) had very rough skin on her upper arms and

thighs. We put her on the GFCF diet and it improved greatly. When we added

the enzymes her skin cleared up w/I a couple of weeks. Jenna also gets dark

circles under her eyes if she has an infraction. Does your son have these

as well?

Hi Valeri,

Thanks for your response. My son has geen GF/CF since he was 3.

What type of enzymes do you give your daughter that helped her

skin. I give my son digestive enzymes with each meal.

also gets the dark circles when his allergies are bad (pollen and

hay fever). Thanks Kerry

Hi,

Tried to mail you off list but it was bounced back. I give Jenna Kirkman's

Complete w/ DPP-IV. I suspected Jenna had Celiac before she was a year old,

so this goes back a ways Here is a copy of an email between the enzyme list

moderator and I. Are you on that list?

Valeri

Question regarding this thread. My daughter Jenna (4 1/2 ASD, GFCF) has

been on this enzyme for a year w/ very good results. Recently we have been

having difficulties w/ giving it to her (nibbler) but prior to that I gave

it to her once or twice a day, whenever she was going to be eating the most.

This was all she needed to clear up all issues she was having. Does this

mean she is not very sensitive? Or is this because she is REALLY GFCF from

head to toe?

Valeri

I think it could be either one - as long as it is working, right?! The

casein/gluten/other peptide concern has two parts. One is the opiate peptide

issue. This may be an issue for some people. The other is the peptide

IgG-mediated immune system reaction. Either may be connected to having a

leaky gut or insufficient digestion. Any given individual may have one of

these things, or both...or even neither. Or it could be what is called a

'cerebral allergy.' AND it may not be just casein or gluten...it could be

any food you eat a lot. So you may have done a great job on casein and

gluten, but the enzymes are picking up other food sources you were not aware

were the problem, and this is the improvement you see.

So there is still a lot to learn on this whole issue, and even GFCF

proponents are divided on it. From the practical standpoint, the enzymes can

help address all of these at the same time, so that is probably why there is

so much success with certain enzymes.
