Guest guest
Hi Sparrow, Could you catch us up to speed here (at least me anyways). ?Which Natural Thyroid medication are you taking? ?How are you taking it? under the tongue(sublingual) or swallowing it on an empty stomach and waiting at least an hour before eating? ?Are you taking it all at once? Or spread out in two, three, four...portions per day? ?Where you taking another type of Thyroid medicine before you started the natural? ?What other vitamins and meds are you taking? Guest guest
Gossimerwingz, I have Hashi's. It is just called Thyroid 60mg in Canada. I swallow it in the morning, on an empty stomach, at least one hour before eating. I take it all at once. I was on Synthroid 100mcg before I started taking the natural. Unfortunately the Synthroid was not elevating my symptoms and I chose to switch. I don't take anything else at the moment. Sparrow
Guest guest
Hi Sparrow, I have Hashi's as well. Is it possible to split your Thyroid tablet(?) in half? or is it a capsule? And then take the med twice a day or as in my case 4 times a day. I take it by placing it under the tongue(sublingual) until it totally desolves. By taking the med more than once a day we are able to simulate the way that our Thyroid glands put out the hormones. ?When was the last time you had a blood workup done? ?Is it possible that 60 mg is not enough for your bodies needs? If you recently had blood work done do you have the numbers and ranges? If you posted them, it might be that we will see a discrepancy that passed by your doc. As for why your throat feels swollen,...IMHO, if the Thyroid gland is working very hard to make the hormones that it is being told to make, the gland does sometimes swell up, sometimes in the front, the back or sides... Other possiblities is that your Thyroid gland might be swelling because of nodules that might be growing on/in the gland. In my case, by raising the dosage level to where the Thyroid gland isn't told to make more hormone the gland has had a chance to relax and the swelling has gone down...my swelling was all over-not in one specific spot. has had more experience, I think, in the area of Hashimoto's disease..She normally jumps on towards the end of the week. I hope that she adds her thoughts to your question. Guest guest
-Hi sparrow, I also Hashi's at least that is what the doc says, any way,I am just now switching to natural myself. I am having similar situation but not only my throat but the back of my neck seems to have pressure. very sore. Any way, like gossimer said, when I start to increase with my natural thyroid, I am going to take it in more than one dose. split it up and put it under my tong and do that a few times a day, by the end of the day I will have the required dose and it will be given as if the thyroid was producing it. The body reacts to things better that way. More natural. Of course Im not a doctor but it makes sense. Plus, in the natural there is more homones like t3 which i am sure you know. If you take it all at once it will use it up all at once. your body needs that t3 throughout the whole day to make it more natural. It will be easier for your body to adjust. Just my opinion and this is what I hear from most who have switched. I don't think it will hurt to try it. It may help and you will still be getting the right dose by the end of the day. so if you are taking 60mg you can try splitting it in 3. 20mg morning, 20mg afternoon, and 20 at night or something like that. Try letting it desolve under your tong you get more of the medication that way, It wont absorb in to anything that may be in your stomach, It will go streight into your system. Just a suggestion. Hope things go better for you. Let me know if you do this and if it works for you because I am just at the begining myself. Guest guest
Thank you for that info. I will try splitting it in two for now (taking meds once a day is hard enough for me to remember). I am going to get new labs done in about 3 weeks. The doctor started me on the 60mg of Thyroid and we will adjust it if needed after those labs. We knew that my labs would be off kilter because before I started on the natural I had been off the synthroid for over a month(long story and my fault, not the docs), so it was decided that I wouldn't even get any done two weeks ago. When I get them done I will definitely post them. Thanks again, Sparrow
