Re: Melatonin - Higher dose?

I read in the book of Ray Sahelian " Mind boosters " that melatonin

causes nightmares, and you have them more as you increase the dose.

The author tried it on himself. This is probably what happens. I

never tried melatonin, but I read that it can interfere with seizures

(it is used to treat seizures, but sometimes it causes seizures in

people which did not have them). I would also be cautious because it

is hormonal supplement.

Best wishes,

Margaret

Either that or some time release melatonin. You might get the time

release capsules from the Life Extension Foundation and use 1/2 a

capsule on him. That has some immediate release and some time release

melatonin and seems to work pretty well.

Melatonin gives me bad dreams, the type you wake up from very frightened but

don't know why. My ASD son Sam 5.8 seems not to have a problem

In the past, I had read that taking melatonin may cause bizarre dreams. I found

out myself when I took 3 mg. one night because I only had so many hours to get

my rest. I am mercury poisoned and I had nightmares the entire night. I was so

tired and stressed out when I woke up that I decided I never would want to have

this experience again. This did it for me. I never want to take this product,

again. Rose

What would be good to help with sleep? My son is severe autistic,

and is on Trazadone. The doc said that all meds say not for under

age 18, including melatonin because it is against fed law to test on

children. We need something, but his safety is most important.

Some people do not tolerate melatonin. I would stop it and see if

that helps.

If you were just posting this question without any additional

specifics, I would tell you to consider phenols and/or yeast, because

both of these contribute to sleep issues, night waking with laughter

and/or screaming, and other problems

It will show metals from recent exposure, but not metals which are

already in the organs. I think it will show lead from past exposure

also, but not entirely sure about that.

Me too. I have tried it several different times. It works for two

nights, but from night 3 on I have very strange/disturbing dreams.

I can't even bring myself to try it on my kids. I know they are

different from me, but - my experience was not pleasant and I

wouldn't wish it on anyone else.
