Guest guest
Hi Pearl, There are a couple of ways to cook squash that I've used. First you slice it in half (you may wish to soften it by cooking it in the microwave for a minute or two). Then you scoop out the seeds. Place the squash cut-side down in a steamer and steam for about 45 minutes. (That's what I do). OR you can place it in a shallow baking dish, cut side down and bake it in the oven for 45 mins. to an hour. My mother does it this way. She doesn't add any water to the pan, but some people do. What my mother does is cook it cut side down for 30 mins, then she flips it over, pricks the flesh all over with a fork (gently, so as not to break the skin) and adds a dab of butter in the " well " of the squash, along with some salt and pepper. I think it's yummy, but my kids won't touch it. LOL! Good luck! Sue (from Pickering) Mom to , 4.5, formerly?
