OMG...my son gets that mothball smelling poop all the time. None of the specialist I mention this to seem to have a sense of what it is but it really does smell like moth balls. What testing are you doing to see the anti-CBri1 level?

Does anyone have any experience with elevated anti-CBri1 and/or moth ball smelling poop? The anti-CBir1 is apparently a marker for flaggelin antibodies (the protein the moves flagellated bacteria around like Lactobacillus and Clostridia). The only time the smell will go away is when my son is on antibiotics and interestingly the only time the small white bumps on his upper arms go away, too. I have tried strong enzymes on him (with some help) and played around with some species of probiotics that are non-flagellated (soon to try E.coli 1917 Nissl), but is there anything else out there that can help?

I can't remember, it's been sooo long since I've smelled moth balls, but do they smell a bit like ammonia? My son has never had moth ball smelling poop (and if he has, I wouldn't know, since he doesn't tell me when he poops - I just tend to find the toilet unflushed and that's how I know how his poops are doing) but it seems to me I remember someone saying it was related to ammonia. I'm not sure, just something to consider.It's funny how related topics come up in bunches.

I'd like to know how to test for the anti-CBri1 level as well. My daughter has the same small white bumps (Allergist said it was Keratosis Pilaris) and mothball smelling poop.

The test is done by Prometheus labs. It is used by GI docs when the suspect

crohn's, IBD, or ulcerative colitis. I don't know if the elevated anti-CBri1

(allergy to flagellated bacteria)has anything to do with the smell and the

bumps, it just makes sense the smell and the bumps go away when he is on

antibiotics. My son was evaluated by Dr. A. Krigsman who said his elevated

antibodies were indicative of autistic enterocolitis. I did not ask him about

the smell that I can recall, I am just trying to put it together since no docs

have helped. I am sure it some type of major dysbiosis in his gut, but he can't

take the usual probiotics since most of them are flagellated strains...BTW - if

your son really does have k. pilaris, vitamin A in the form of cod liver oil is

supposed to help.
