Guest guest
We use california baby sunscreen if we plan to be out in the harsh sun that might burn him (the beach etc...). Otherwise, we don't use it at all, he needs the D. We use shade, clothing etc.. Be careful with lotions, shampoos, make sure they are GFCF. FOr a while I thought GFCF wasn't working, then I noticed he would regress after his bath or sunscreen application. Cal Baby is our favorite, they make all types of stuff. THe bubble bath has replaced all of the cheap bubbles from the toy store (who knows where that water comes from, yuk). I love the aloe cream myself and all the shampoos and conditioners are wonderful for the entire family. They have a cold and flu line that I can't live without, bath bubbles, oil in a pump and a tiny oil you can add to any bath. When my son's nose gets stuffy he says, Mommy get the lotion for my tummy, he means the oil, it works better than chemical vicks. I am sure there are others, these are just easy to find and made in the USA. > > we are using badger 30...it occurred to me it may not be GFCF. California baby better? Any suggestions? >

Guest guest
Sounds absolutely crazy...however, I will throw it out there.. I only used sunscreen on my child when we would be in the sun for more than an hour (if it was less than an hour, I skipped it) -- and I upped his Vitamin C to 4X the RDA for his age. Vitamin C has been shown to decrease the chances of getting a sunburn. During the summer when we went out, we usually did a few hours in the morning 9-11am(when the sun wasn't that hot) -- I brought him in for the afternoon (around 11-4) and then I took him back to the pool around 4-7. He had a nice tan (but not overly dark), and he was getting the Vitamin D (which he needed) -- Sunscreen blocks the body to use the sun to get Vitamin D. So, letting them " play " in the sun for 20 minutes (during the day) then putting on sunscreen, allows them to get the Vitamin D. I used California Baby. > > > > we are using badger 30...it occurred to me it may not be GFCF. California baby better? Guest guest
Ditto... I stopped using sunblock last summer due to all the chemicals. We only use it now if we are going to be outside all day. Maybe the reason my hubby burns so bad is he is not a citrus eater. I will harass him about the Vit C. ;-) Sounds absolutely crazy...however, I will throw it out there.. Guest guest
Thanks guys! Yes--we too have been sans sunscreen most of the day. I only put it on him at the beach when I know the sun is going to be strong and we are there for a while, etc--he is very fair, but he needs all the D he can get. , I didn't know that about vitamin c--and he is deficient in it anyway. That is good to know...thank you! Ordered California Baby for him. We use their other products too. Thanks! > > > > > > > > we are using badger 30...it occurred to me it may not be GFCF. > > California baby better?
