Guest guest
I'm a hashi patient with adrenal exhaustion. I'm on 30 grms of HC a day. I've just started taking Naturethroid (past 2 weeks) 1.5 grams of Naturethroid daily. Doing much better than I was at the first of the year in energy.... However I'm still dealing with certain symptoms ie, hair falling out, low temps (around 96 degrees), semi depressed, and sometimes low stamina. I will have times (all day long) that I will just get hot all over too....that may be hormone related as I am post menopausal. I'm working with a doc and a natureopath. Below are my lab results: I had these 8/11/09 Ferritin 79 (10-232) T3 Uptake 29 (22-35%) T4, FREE 1.1(0.8-1.8ng/dl) TSH, 3rd Generation 4.11 (0.40-4.50 mIU/L) T3,FREE 243(230-420 pg/dL)T3 Reverse 33 (11-32 ng/dL) Thyroglobulin Antibodies 28 (<20 IU/mL) TSI 97 (<=125% baseline) Also....fyi....I'm insulin resistant, have high cholesterol, and gluten and dairy intollerant. Been off grains (all but millet and sometimes brown rice), no sugar....only water...and very commited to eating right. Actually found that eating a low carb, high protein diet has made me feel better when it comes to my sugar related problems. Anyway.... How long should I stay on the Naturethroid before I increase the dosage? Hashi can go hyper on me in a minute. Don't want to go there. Hate the shakiness and heart palps. How do I gauge this and what am I looking for as I increase the dosage? How long before I'll start noticing an improvement in symptoms? Jan Re: question Here ya go! Guest guest
Generally I ask people to graph their temps to know if the cortisl is adjusted corectly. I use the method described at www.drrind.com to knwo when it is right,. You have one glaring issue and you can e to the right group with it, Your RT3 is WAY too high. Your T3/Rt3 ratio is 7.36 which is VERY bad as ti neds to be at least 20. I would suggest ou get som T3(Cytomel) and replace the natural thyroid with that. The reason for thi is Natural thyroi dcontains T4 and T4 is the prohormone for RT3 as well as T3. But when you have to much RT3 alreayd it encourages your body to make more RT3 and thus T3 goes down which RT3 rises. RT3 binds to the same receptors as T3 and effectively blocks the T3 from reaching the cells. This creates even MORE adrenal stress than just hypo by itself does. Ho wbad is youre insulin resistance? Have you had recent fasting glucose or A1c labs? I ask as something is making your body favor the RT3 prodution and as you are on HC in a fairly normal dose and your feritin is good, there has to be a cause of your RT3 we need to look for and I suspect Diabetes is one of the causes of it. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
Why do I feel better on a high T3? It's 6.50 Lab Range is 2.00-4.00 Thank You,
Guest guest
>Why do I feel better on a high T3? It's 6.50 >Lab Range is 2.00-4.00 Lots of potential reasons:- Tissue resistance The lab ranges contain too many sicck people (Val quotes ranges that used to go to 6) If you are on T3 only you need to be over range as you have no T4 for backup Low cortisol or Ferritin causiing problems utilising the FT3 At the end of the day the numbers are a guide, it's how you feel that matters Nick Nick
Guest guest
> Why do I feel better on a high T3? It's 6.50 > Lab Range is 2.00-4.00 Because more and more people are now hypoth and this causes a lowering of the " normal " ranges. Normal does not necessarily mean healthy. It apparently just means you are not comatose and can walk into get tested. Here is a more realistic set of ranges. http://www.endocrineweb.com/TFT.html Dorothy
Guest guest
I am on armour thyroid. I also forgot that when I took this test I had taken my armour. My lab also said I was low in my Tsh and normal with my T4. > > >Why do I feel better on a high T3? Guest guest
>I am on armour thyroid. I also forgot that when I took this test I had taken my armour. Then this is a perfectly normal lab, you need to not take the Armour on the day of the lab until after the blood draw >My lab also said I was low in my Tsh and normal with my T4. Then that's normal for Armour, most people feel best with TSH suppressed. There is a list of typical lab numbers on the STTM site. Try it at 6 grains and see what happens, the usual proviso is that pulse is under 90 at rest and temperature is stable/ Is she spreading the HC and the thyroid through the day?? If the higher dose doesn't do it then trying T3 only may be worthwhile, I had got up to 12 grains of armour to feel well before I swapped over to T3 only Nick
