Guest guest
It's too low if you're having dizziness when standing up. Atacand and Accupril together is a pretty darned powerful combination if your BP wasn't that high to begin with. Pierre Re: Blood Pressure - how low is too low > Hi - I've been having some really bad dizziness everytime I stand up, like I'm going to faint. I'm taking accupril 2x's daily and atacand 1 timer per day. My blood pressure is averaging about 92/55. This morning it was 83/55. I've got a call into my neph's office. How low is too low.....this is a horrible feeling....Rita >
Guest guest
Hi Rita, I agree that your BP is too low if you are having that much dizziness. Please let us know what your Neph says, and please be very careful until they get it up!
Guest guest
Hi Rita, Do take it easy until you are feeling better. It is good they took you off your BP meds. You were too low. Rita, please let us know as soon as you get the results from your CT scan on Monday.
Guest guest
It's good to hear you've had that resolved already, Rita. We wouldn't want you to faint. It's very easy to get overmedicated from office blood pressure readings that are inflated due to " white coat syndrome " (very common), or due to a short-lived stressful situation. You will find that when you stop drugs like those you were on, the BP goes back to its normal, unmedicated level very quickly, unlike other drugs where it could take a week or two. Pierre Re: Blood Pressure - how low is too low > My doctor took me off of all BP meds for the time being. He said when my BP get's back to 100 then I can slowly start adding my Ace Inhibitor back into the picture. This morning my BP was 106/82 (much better) but I'm very shaky. I'll keep you posted....Rita >
Guest guest
Hi Adam, White Coat Hypertension is really not all that uncommon at all. Let's hope that is what is going on. I do highly recommend a home BP machine. It is helpful to know what your levels are at different times of the day, and away from the doctor's office. Guest guest
I doubt that the shakiness is from stopping these medications. It happens with other types that affect the nervous system, like beta blockers and clonidine, but not these. Maybe your BP is still a bit low - that's what it sounds like. Are you eating any salt at all? A little bit couldn't hurt (like a bowl of soup, or something like that). You may have gotten a little dehydrated while on the BP meds. Just my layman's opinion, for what it's worth. Pierre RE: Blood Pressure - how low is too low > Thanks Amy - I'm still feeling really shaky - sitting at work and taking it slowly today. Monday is my Chest - CT SCAN. I'll keep you posted....miss you girl!!!! take care >

Guest guest
Good to hear you've sorted out the medication. I went to see my GP today and my average over three readings was 160/100. He laughed when I said it might be " white coat hypertension " So, he wants me to see the practice nurse each week for a reading and then come back to see him in a couple of weeks to see if the meds need changing (I'll need a new prescription by then anyway). He said that it takes a little while for the medication to take affect. He was also supportive of my idea of measuring my own BP. I'll look for a monitor over the weekend. Best wishes, Adam, UK > It's good to hear you've had that resolved already, Rita.
