Guest guest
Ugh, this makes no sense to me and is extremely frustrating, so beware!! May have to rant a bit here! ;.) Why on earth, when before SCD all I ate was breads, rice, starches, etc, WHY would I all of a sudden NOW be battling yeast so badly?? I went to the gyno today, convinced I had some awful bacterial infection, it was so bad it literally kept me up all night, and not responding to yeast treatments, but NOPE -just one wicked yeast infection. UGH!! She gave me a really strong gel prescription, I was leery of anything oral? So what is the deal? Why yeast NOW when I'm eating so well on SCD??? The only things I can think of are this - I'm reading on a couple of " yeast " websites that " cashews have a lot of yeast " . What the heck is up with that???? They are a nut! I'm just confused, I thought yeast was in BREAD. Is this the reason folks have been saying go easy on cashews? I never got a solid answer on that (I'm not talking about the whole roasted/not roasted nut butter discussion, I'm just talking about cashews in general). Even Elaine, with ALL due respect, could not give me a firm reason to " go easy on " them - she just said that they " tasted starchy to her " and she recommended pecans. NOW, pecans are fine, but in a lot of things, they do not have the taste/color/texture to " do it " for Luke. And as far as he is concerned, how would I know if he's having yeast issues? It's pretty obvious with ME, ick. But he seems good, I'm thinking maybe yeast is not bad for him? What I'd like to do is switch me over to almond, and continue to use cashew and pecan with him (almonds are too high in sal's). The other thing - cheese?? Apparently cheese is an issue with yeast? Cheese is one thing I can grab to snack on. Almost every single day I have a few chunks of mild cheddar or havarti cheese with some kind of fruit, grapes or an orange or a very ripe pear (all of which I'm able to tolerate raw & peeled). So I need to back off on cheese? Choices sure are slimming down here... Finally - GSE. I've been doing it for a few days and yet still have this monster yeast infection. Should I continue it? Does it take time? Or is it bogus and not doing anything for me? I LOVE SCD and how it's helping our tummies and Luke's ASD issues, but the peripheral stuff is what gets on my nerves. HOWEVER... in all my ranting, all I really want is answers so we can continue to move in the right direction, so thanks for your patience. Praying for grace/patience/strength for us ALL! in NC Mom of Luke, age 5, Asperger's/low-salicylate; , age 3; and , 23 mos All SCD since 1/26/04 No Mom is an island. but sometimes she needs one!
