Would love to hear your thoughts on if Yeast can be present or an issue even if urine and stool tests are all normal.

Re: How can you tell if YEAST is acting-up in your kids??

Yes, it can increase yeast. Antivirals shift the immune system to where it weakens it's yeast fighting cytokines. 4 days on an antifungal will not be enough. And yes, it all sounds like yeast. *But* the best way to know what yeast looks like in your child is to treat it. When you go through yeast die off, the symptoms get worse before they get better so while treating it, you'll be able to really tell what yeast looks like in your kid so you can recognize it in the future.

In my son yeast is - hands in mouth, mouthing, hyperactivity, spaciness, whininess, more hyperactivity, some aggression, frustration and night waking. I'm sure there's a few more but my main ones that I look for in my son is night waking and the hands going in the mouth! As soon as that happens I *know* it's yeast. The others can be a couple different things but the night waking and hands in mouth is *only* yeast for him. So when you treat yeast, keep a close eye on what he does and what goes away after a week on an antifungal. As I said before, 4 days likely isn't long enough to do anything that'll last very long.

Also, if you need, you can search the archives. I've posted a couple studies explaining the shift in T1/T2 cytokines with antivirals before and so has Elyse. As a matter of fact, Elyse may have faster access to it. I got a new computer so I don't have them on hand anymore. Eventually I'll need to go through the archives myself to find them!

Hi -

Can anyone tell me what yeast "BEHAVIOR" symptoms look like?

My almost-4-year- old has been on Valtrex ( 250mg - 1x day) for 60 days now. His behavior is out of control. He's very defiant, does not listen to me. Head-bangs on everyone in the house and on everything. Is throwing wicked tantrums. Sensory issues are just exploding.

Before we started the Valtrex, he tested negative (blood draw) for yeast.

When I told my doc about this he said that Valtrex does NOT increase yeast (but everyone else here says it does) so which is correct?

But he told me to put my son on 25 mg of Diflucan every other day for 4 days - and to supplement with Cortef to help with the die-off symptoms just in case yeast is on the rise.

So my questions are...

1) Is this YEAST sounding behavior or 3-year old boy behavior? Or Valtrex or B12 shots side effects?

2) How can you all tell when yeast is getting too high in your own kids? (I don't see any skin symptoms at all.)

3) How did you all treat for yeast? Is 4 days of Diflucan enough? Anything over the counter that you use?

4) Is Diflucan safe? Or does it just cause another chain reaction of things that I'll need to treat?

5) What is the best way to test for yeast. We did a blood draw. Is this accurate?

I'm new at this, so I hope someone can take the time to answer... I meet with the doc again tomorrow and I want to hear your responses before I see him.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Susie

How can we get a good measure of systemic yeast?

Yes. Because many times it's systemic - not just in the gut.
