Hi Mel,

What else did you have beside the milk for breakfast? Another question is

did you start any new medications that maybe you take every other day? Did

you have a hypoglycemic reaction in the night and were having symogigi

rebound? Do you have infections right now that you are either aware or

unaware of? We need a little more info to help figure this out so don't

throw out the diet Dr. Pepper yet.

Hi Melvin,

I use a pump as well and love it. I did not realize how much impact high-fat

foods had on my blood sugar until I began using a combination bolus on my pump.

Now, when I forget to use a combination bolus for high-fat foods there is a very

noticeable rise in my blood sugar hours later, and that combination bolus can

make the difference between having a blood sugar of 6.5 for hours later or

fighting hours of blood sugars in the teens.

Do you have any vision, or do you use the pump completely non-visually? Most

blind people I know do not use advanced features such as the bolus calculators

or combination boluses or temporary basal rates. I use all of these because I

have memorized all of the pump's functionality. I also have enough vision to see

the screen with a strong magnifier, but usually don't use one as it's faster to

navigate by counting button presses.

Hi Ruth,

I had nothing else except the milk for breakfast that morning. As for

medications there has been no change in them. There was no low BG during

the night that I am aware of. Just had a full physical for camp including

blood work and nothing showed there as far as infections. I didn't do

anything unusual the day before or that morning either, just some light

house work.

What camp are you gong to Melvin? I am going to camp on June 19.

wonder if it is the same one you are going to? It's not for diabetics,

so the food choices will be interesting!

I am going to do a cub scout day camp for the week after Father's Day. This

year I am working in the kitchen so I get to help plan the menus for the

week. Have no idea what we are going to have yet, so I will see how much of

an influence I can have.
