I'd try it without the chloral hydrate first, though -- then if he doesn't sit still for it, consider giving it to him.

 

Chloral hydrate should be fine.  Just don't let them use Nitrous Oxide or Laughing Gas.

Hi, just having a 24 hr EEG to learn more about my son's seizures. Tomorrow we are supposed to have an MRI and the nurse said something about using chloral hydrate to sedate him. He's 3.5 / 37 lbs, should I be concerned? He is a really good patient (I'm not just saying that ;-) every doctor says this about him) so I was hoping he'd just stay still for it (I know it's a lot to ask of a 3 yr old though :-( )
