Guest guest
Group - I have been asked by a colleague to go down to Guatemala to help train 2 PT's and an MD down there on 'best practices' and improve their manual therapy skills. I am going down the week after Thanksgiving and I am asking for some input on the following: 1. Have any of you ever been in Guatemala and/or have any experience with the healthcare system and education background of PT's in Guatemala? 2. The clinic down there that I am helping with has the MD and the PT's in close vicinity with all payment being cash. so without barriers from insurance what would be your ideal treatment/setup for a patient (mainly lumbar and cervical type patients)? 3. The clinic is mainly focused on modalities and traction, but want to add to their practice with manual skills, what would be your recommendations on which skills to teach? 4. Supporting references on manual therapies, pros/cons of traction. I appreciate all input and feedback. I am trying to think of how to efficiently and effectively train this staff in a 5 day span without completly overwheliming them with information. FYI- my manaul skills are mainly Maitland based. Thanks for the help! Gwilliam, PT, CWS Director of Rehab Bowie Memorial Hospital Bowie, Texas
