Guest guest
Here are some things I've found so far, no one I know personally knows anything different about homeschooling a special needs child as opposed to a " typical " child. http://www.outrig.com/hsinginnc/laws.asp http://www.nhen.org/leginfo/detail.asp?StateCode=North%20Carolina http://www.nhen.org/toc/toc-index.asp#spec <- click on special needs http://www.homeschoolmag.com/hs2635.htm homeschooling-OT > > > > Does anyone know if you homeschool your child in North Carolina do you > need to comply with the homeschooling requirements and get all the paperwork > done if you only plan to teach your disabled child? Guest guest
I homeschool my older kids but I live in California. Here is a website that will tell you what you need to know legally about homeschooling in North Carolina: http://www.hslda.com/hs/state/NC/default.asp You can also call them for more specific information. They have a very knowledgable lady that specialized just with special needs kids. > Does anyone know if you homeschool your child in North Carolina do you need to comply with the homeschooling requirements and get all the paperwork done if you only plan to teach your disabled child? Guest guest
If I were you I would let the school know what your plans are and ask for a home tutor for the remainder of this year. If it takes 30 days to set up homeschool there. If the incident was seriouse enough for you to pull her out immediately then request a home instructor for the remainder of the year.. or make arrangements so that you can do it in cooperation with the school. You will run into truancy trouble otherwise and you probably don't want that hassle on top of the situation. > I homeschool my son in NC. You do need to comply with the state > law.
