Guest guest
My son has been SCD now for a year and a half. It was a miracle for his stools turning them from chronic mush to formed within 3 months. Unfortnatly he is still autistic, though making steady albeit slow progress. Of late, he has been more constipated. I never thoght I'd have this problem! if I let him, he will only have a bm every 2-3 days. I usually induce him with a supposititory to get him to go everyday. A have a few questions that I will post on separate e-mails to see if I can find some clues as to his constipation and lately less desirable behaviors. First questions regarding probioics: Is the Custom Probiotic L acidophilus truly the ONLY probiotic that is legal on the SCD? Are any of the new super-powederd Klaire Ther- Biotic probiotics allowed? If your child refuses to eat yogurt, could they take the CP custom yogurt starter (say mixed in juice) instead of the yogurt, or is it best to say with the L acidophilus only? Thanks, Beth

It isn't that custom probiotic is the only one but that in a probiotic Elaine only recommends Lactobacillus acidophilus. Please see http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/probiotics. htm I have a probiotic made by Lyosan that only has L. acidophilus. This one has a little skim milk powder (that the bacteria digest) so those avoid casein don't like this one. There is another brand of probiotic, grown on green peas or something like that -sorry, but I don't have the name. > Are any of the new super-powederd Klaire Ther- > Biotic probiotics allowed?
