Guest guest
At the beginning of the week I started to give my mother Selenium with vitamin e. After three days she became very sick. Nausea and vomiting, The week before she had undergone experimental cancer therapy in Texas. Is it possible for the selenium too cause this. I only gave her half the dose on the bottle 100 mg per day. Or could it be a delayed reaction to the chemo. Also what is Milk Thistle supposed to do for someone who has cancer. My mothers cancer started in the colon and progressed to the liver. I do have one more question. I am asking this with a very heavy heart. My mothers cancer has only gotten worse. We have tried so much and there is no improvement. She has decided no more chemo. She is tired of feeling sick and tired. My mother would like to know what kind of symptoms she can expect when the end is near. When she has asked the doctor we get very uncertain answers. As though he is avoiding the question. It is important for her to know. Thankyou for all who can answer some or all my questions. Blessings, Chere

Guest guest
Chere I see that you've had a reply regards the selenium dose already so I would just say that milk thistle extract is one of the herbs I gave my wife for her liver cancer. Milk thistle protects the liver against toxins. It offers significant protection in these cases but also strengthens the cell membranes. Studies have found that toxins are unable to attack cells already strengthened by milk thistle extract. Milk thistle also assists in liver regeneration by stimulating protein synthesis. I would suggest that milk thistle is an herb to use after detoxifying to prevent further toxic effects, rather than something to use to try to repair damage on it's own. I combined milk thistle with dandelion and licorice root. Kind regards. Allan Selenium and Milk ThistleAt the beginning of the week I started to give my mother Selenium with vitamin e. It is good for one's liver, and is being used for that purpose. I don't know how much. > Which would has the better assistive ability for > promotion of healing, echinacea(sic) or colostrum? Echinacea is an immune stimulant herb. It is usually used in short term (e.g. for a week) to get the immune system ACTIVATED. For example, in an immune breakdown, like a cold or the flu. It is usually not recommended to take long term (although I don't think it would hurt you). Some long term immune enhancers are reishi, shiitake and miataki (sp?) mushrooms. And astragalus is in that category I believe. There are probably lots of other things as well, these are what happens to come to mind right now. Colostum is a milk-derived product--- I think it is also aimed at enhanced immunity, in that it could pass on some of the immune factors we are designed to get through (human) milk. I do not know how it compares to any of the herbs. best wishes, Moria p.s. I didn't answer selenium because I don't know.
