Right after you decide that every 3-4 hour dosing is safe and every 8

hour dosing often isn't. .. . . . . ..

Dear Listmates,

Thank you for all the valuable information!

We are currently on round 8 of chelation with our 3yo son. Although we started

with the DAN protocol, the last 4(?) rounds have been 25mg every four hours

(DMSA). This current round we're upping the dose to approx. 37mg. My question

is this, Jack's progress is slow...is it time to add ALA? His hair tests show

lead, antimony and uranium at this point. We've been advised to go up to 50mg

per dose, but felt that doubling the dose was too much which is why we went to

37mg.

Also, has anyone done NAET with their ASD children?

Thanks in advance,

Go ahead and add the ALA. You don't need to increase the DMSA.

I believe Andy recently stated the mandatory use of DMSA was a

misinterpretation of his written protocol. I believe he wrote DMSA

is warranted for those who recently had amalgam removal or other

mercury exposure.

Not that it will screw up chelation, just not the rule he intended

for us to adopt. Therefore, I would think adding ALA in appropriate

doses would be just fine.

Hope I'm not creating another protocol myth!

Who is this DAN! doctor. He or she needs a cigar.

Re: [ ] When to add ALA

When I met with the DAN! dr yesterday (who uses Andy's protocol), he said

that I should do at least 4 rounds of DMSA before adding in the ALA. So

this is what I am going to do following the 3days on 11 off.

This is correct.

This is correct.

Nope, you got it right.

This is a not irrational position, and a conservative one. A few

rounds of DMSA is NOT going to hurt anything, and might clarify the

situation or make later ALA or ALA + DMSA chelation easier. In the

strict sense it is not however NECESSARY. There is nothing wrong with

doing it this way though.

Yes.

It is fine to add ALA now if you want.

You could try 50 mg DMSA first if you wanted to do that, but it isn't

necessary.
