Guest guest
I am back from my self-imposed ban. It gives me great pleasure to introduce the list members to a new term, glr. As memtioned in a previous post the glr is exactly what it is no more and noe less. The glr is the glucose level reading obtained on your glucose monitor, or sugar monitor as some call it. It makes no difference if it is read in moles or miligrams per deciliter. After all it is what it is. I believe in calling an ace an ace and a spade a spade. Use any term you like like bs for blood sugar, but this does not exactly say what it is. Your machine does not measure all sugars, since it is designed to only measure glucose, the simplest sugar in your blood stream. Your sugar monitor does not measure dextrose, a sugar, fructose, a sugar, maldtose, a sugar, or even a sucrose, the common name is sugar for this term. When ever you see the ending " ose " on the end of a word, you are talking about a carbohydrate for sure. Even complex carbohydrates like cellulose, a wood product is a form of sugar, a carbohydrate. Our machines are not designed to measure these forms of sugar, they measure only glucose, the simplest form of sugar, which is tasteless, not sweet like fructose, dextrose or sucrose. It is only glucose and only glucose that fuels your body systems. So I encourage each and every one of us to use this new term, glr in reporting their monitor readings. Afrter a short period of time it will be understandable to all and used correctly. In fact it will become second nature, and not even arguable. Whenever your monitor is designed to measure something other than glucose, then and only then should we change the term glr. Do as you like, but I prefer to use glr (glucose level reading). I hope you join me in calling it what it is. I also wish to welcome the new members who joined us during my absence. Welcome aboard, Harry Bates, the scientist
