Can you explain the procedure please? I'm hopingher's heals without surgical intervention of any type!Your son sounds like a riot! They used the pins—inserted into the bone surgically – to hold the bone in place until it healed. After 6 weeks, then they pulled the pins out. Yes, it hurt L but he hasn’t had any problems with his elbow since. Hopefully your daughter will heal without any surgery. Let your daughter know that I am praying that she heals quickly, and soon she'll be doing all she used to do. And Kate, I am lifting you too. I know what this does to mothers. As if we don't have enough caos to deal with. I guess we can be thankful that it wasn't any more serious than breaking her humorous. She could have broken her neck! Love and blessings to you all... Many yrs ago Pay broke her collar bone and the worse part was I was at my gmas and we had just got there after a 14 hr drive so I couldnt just turn around and go back. I felt awful and I know she did too. She had to be in a sling for awile,she hated it and the pain was pretty bad. I hope the pain isnt to bad on Kara. Guest guest Posted March 19, 2009 Report Share Posted March 19, 2009 Hi Kate, This happened many years ago with my older brother. He was playing football, for school, and had hurt is upper leg. My dad thought it was a hamstring and had him down on the floor every night lifting weights with that leg. After about a week, when it wasn't getting any better he finally had my mom take him to the Dr., it turned out he had fractured one of the bones. After that, it didn't matter how slight the injury was, he had my mom taking any of us to the emergency room. At a birthday party I had at Mc's for my daughter, one of the boys hurt his arm, don't remember how, but it also turned out to be a fracture. She didn't take him to the Dr. for 3 days. The point is none of us are perfect as parents and these things are going to happen, again and again. I know it makes us all feel gulty, believe me, I feel guilty about a number of things with my daughter, including being a terrible mother. She's almost 24 now, and we were talking one day and I asked her about it, wanting her to be totally honest, and told her so, she said I did the best I could under the circumstances, which is an under-statement. She went on to say that the only thing I didn't teach her was how to save money. She's turned out to be a beautiful, caring and loving person. And, that's just not my opinion. She used to work at a Texaco, and one time an older lady wrote a check for her bill. She had a ckeck that had bounced, and couldn't take another check from her. made sure that none of the other customers could hear what they were talking about so she wouldn't be further embarrassed and paid for her check. This was one of her regular customers, and as soon as she had the money, went back and repaid her. I happened to be there both times and introduced me the second time. The woman told me what a kind daughter I had raised, and also a number of other customers said the same thing, as well as how she was their favorite clerk and hated to see her go when she got a better job. Let those feelings of guilt go, it's hard I know, I still have moments of doubt about how I raised my daughter. We just do the best we can and pray that it's enough. Fortunately, it ususally does.
