Guest guest
This debate goes back and forth. Anyone know of any recent studies debating prolonged stretching,30-60 seconds vs. the shorter few second methods of Mattes? I personally have seen better results with longer, low load or with total motion release techniques. Just curious what you all find works best. On Wednesday, December 8th, the Senate passed the Medicare and Medicaid Extenders Act of 2010 and this bill was passed by the House of Representatives today, December 9th. The President is expected to sign the bill into law immediately. The bill stops the scheduled 25% reduction in payments for therapy services under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and extends the therapy cap exception process for all of 2011. This means providers of therapy services will be reimbursed at the same rate in 2011 as they were in 2010 except for the 4%-6% negative impact as a result of the Multiple Procedure Payment Reduction policy. Guest guest
As an aging masters athlete (world champion pole vaulter) I agree - longer slower with total motion release. I do some dynamic stretching through warm ups and between lifting sets. In the 90s I was a lead instructor for the Amateur Athletic Foundation (AAF), the legacy of the Los Angeles Olympic Games, and this combination seemed to be the consensus of what worked best from the coach/athlete perspective. Hopefully that provides some crossover as athletes seem to always be in and out of PT. That's how I was first attracted to the industry. Knee operations at 12, 14 and 17 from football introduced me to a superstar PT who always sent me out better than he got me.
