Hi Thea,

I honestly don't know much about this topic, but your message made me

think of this post from a couple of weeks ago. Does it

relate at all?

son - , 5yo, ASD, SCD 13 months

Subject: RE: O.T. potty training older kids/castor oil packs

Pam - You put them over the child's abdomen. An adult would place it

roughly over the liver but a child's abdomen is pretty small compared

to the

pack so cover much more than the liver. The " pack " is actually folded

wool

flannel. You buy it at the HFS in 18x24 " pieces and fold it up. Then

you

saturate the cloth with castor oil, place over the abdomen, wrap in

plastic

wrap so it doesn't make a mess, and put a heating pad over the whole

thing.

Turn the heating pad up to high and let it remain in place for an

hour. The

recommendation is to do it three consecutive days, then take a rest,

then do

it again for three days periodically. For more information do a Google

search on Edgar Cayce.

I was as surprised as anyone that castor oil packs got my son going

to the

potty. IMO they might work really well for the kids with constipation.

Thea,

What will you do to get him cleaned out? It's probably not a muscular

problem.

abdominal xray, is showing alot of stool just sitting in his GI tract

and not moving, hence diarrhea going around it. I'm just curious as I

do my research to determine if this is a muscular problem that will

keep occuring once we get him cleaned out (a fun process) and how you

go about " fixing " a muscular problem. If anyone has some info or good

websites to look at, please email me offline. Meanwhile, back to google!

Hope,

We are in the process trying several things...none of which seem to be

working. Beet juice, Miralax, next is a castor oil pack on his tummy, and a

couple other options. The final step, which I REALLY hope we don't have to

do, is a colonscopy prep. I know the adults I've talked to didn't enjoy

that cleansing process!
