Guest guest
Mr. Haussecker, Thanks for your reply and encouragement. I asked for (EMSAT) to tell me why this is a bad idea, but your reply states 'go for it'. As far as the faxes rolling out Monday morning....they will actually start Monday afternoon. Thankfully, God's speed (or the mortal equivalent)is available via commercial fax broadcasting services, and the fees are not as frightening as I thought. Otherwise, though I have flat-rate long distance, I could be standing at my HP print/fax/copy machine for hours....days. Unfortunately, the list of 784 providers only includes 654 fax numbers, so I will have to try and collect some missing information for a second broadcast tommorow, and maybe the next. The deadline is through Friday.... Hope to meet you on Friday- I will try to find shift coverage so that I can make it to Austin for the afternoon. Ron > Ron, > If we had ten EMS folks like you we could probably turn this thing around. Go for it. God's speed my friend. We know there will be change. The question is how much, and none of us know if we will be heard or not. Although it looks like no one cares, we may touch one person that has enough influence to change some things. We do know if we say nothing we will not be heard. > As EMSAT President in 2002 at the Annual Meeting in Austin I and the EMSAT Board was Blasted Big Time for uttering the words EMS Commission, and now it's all anyone can talk about. I some some folks tell me I was bulldozing over everyone. They might think, or get their facts clear in the future before becoming loose cannons. All I can say is we told you this was going to happen. Yes we did!!!!!!!! Yes we did!!!! Yes we did!!!! I guess those folks complaining didn't see the writing on the wall like the EMSAT Board did two years ago. We are still working on an EMS Commission. I just want the record set that EMSAT is the First to stand up in front of God,Country, and the EMS Industry and screamed EMS Commission. Lets make it a reality. As much as I hate to say this is 99% of the EMS folks outside the people that go to GETAC meetings (mostly RAC) support the reorganization, and think it should happen and we are wrong. This comes from many years of EMS Battles at the Fed, State, local, and Employer level ,that did damage to many, many EMS folks, and ruined some careers/lives, ran 1,000's of folks out of the industry, some just went on welfare, and others got a Real Job. You may sense some frustration from a old guy that just stayed in there for what he thought was worth fighting for when others gave up. > Thanks, > > EMSAT Past President > Waking up 55,000 people > > > Regarding the proposed devastation to Texas EMS as we know it: > > So the HHSC is still taking comments through February 13th, > and letters to Senators and Representatives could also be > helpful...even after that date? > How could you possbily reach a significant portion of the 55,000+ EMS > personnel in Texas and get them to respond within the week? > > It seems that all the informational text and http links they would > need to become informed of the proposed changes, the impact on EMS, > and how to voice their opinion would easily fit to a single page.... > > I'm considering: A fax to all 780~ providers on the latest BEM > Providers list. Guest guest
Thanks. FYI it's working!! Your fax came to our office last night or early this morning. Very well done. I know MHMR has had a big push, but we were told this morning that they will keep a lot together but the MHMR will get separated into two sections where MH is located in one area and MR in another of the organization chart, even though they have turned out into the hundreds at the hearings, and email comments. All we can do is hope and try. It looks dim for EMS when MHMR is still going to split with their massive organized turn out. At least some of us can say we did try with what time, and knowledge we had to work with. BEM IS going away, but will ANY of it stay in tact? If not who are you going to call to get something done? Will they even know what EMS stands for? How long will it take to get something approved, or processed? Who will have access to your past records in many areas? Will Texas go 100% NR? If so what happens to the ECA's and LP's since NR has none? I think we will see the WILL of the EMS Community by the turn out in Austin on Thursday. I talking about EMS folks for EMS. Not Rac's for RAC's. Nothing against the RAC's but at this time EMS needs to save itself. Thanks, Ron H.
