I've been suffering with chronic lower back pain for decades but I never

thought it was related to IGaN. The lower back usually hurts after I get up from

a

chair. I either become bent over at the waist or lean to one side.

However, after standing for some time or doing some stretching exercises, the

pain goes away. In fact, I was able to play tournement tennis yesterday with

no pain.

Now my questions. Do I have lower back pain from IGaN or not? Do others

with this lower back problem get relief as I do or does the pain stay constant?

Hi Kenika,

Remember that your doctor works for you! If you still are having the sharp

pain, please do call your doctor, especially for a sharp pain like that. I

hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi Jack,

For me, I only have occasional dull ache flank pain, but when it does occur,

it is not alleviated by stretching.

My hunch would be that what you described is not the IgAN related flank pain.

My guess is that the back pain is not related to having IgAN, especially if

it's lower back pain. The kidneys are actually quite high up in the back.

That being said, some of the common blood pressure medications we take can

possibly cause back pain.
