I know a few agencies. They pay from office (start or end but not sure if

both) to patient and between patient.

If you start at patient house and don't travel to another then that gets

extra sticky. I do some occasional weekend evaluations and they decided to

stop paying any mileage since I only see 1 patient and office is closed.

Some serious discussions and now they give me a flat rate " add " fee for 1st

patient on weekend.

Subject: mileage

I am curious to find out what on average home health agencies are paying

their employees for mileage between visits.

Also wanting to find out if they are paying from home, or starting at the

first patient ending at last patient.

Also curious for practice owners with a contract with home health agencies

if you are getting paid per visit mileage included, or a set rate per visit,

different for eval or start of care with mileage seperated out.

Appreciate the input.

We provide contract therapy to HHAs and we bill a " flat rate " for different

types of visits (Eval, F/U, SOC OASIS, etc). Our therapists also get

reimbursed on flat rate basis, but they are instructed to keep track of their

own miles for when they file their income tax, where they can itemize it for

a deduction.

I've worked for two different HH agencies and neither pay mileage.

Ron,

Thank you for your answer. In that case do they pay more if the visit is

furhter out? I am in a rural area and some visits are as far away as 80

miles.

I work for several HH companies doing prn in rural areas. For out of town pt's I

either get a higher pay rate for the visit or a mileage rate.......or sometimes

I get paid my pt visit  rate during the drive time too. Just depends on the

company.

I've negotiated for mileage for one area that I travel. The approximate

one-way distance for this area was 60 miles.
