Guest guest
My daughter has this exact same problem due to severe sensory issues. I have found she does better with a meatloaf. If you need any recipes let me know. Also if the meat is soft like in a crock pot stew or in a chili with other things mixed in and simmered for awhile, she absolutely loves that. She really hates plain hard to chew meat. Also you can marinate meats to make them easier to eat. Kathy Abby-9, ASD,UC, SCD for 10 weeks > My youngest (3yo) has severe sensory problems with meats. Guest guest
I know where you are coming from; except Sam is the opposite-he gags on soft protein. He hates hamburgers, meatloaf and eggs. Spits them out as soon as possible! Have you tried the chicken tots from peacanbread.com or croquettes frpm BTVC. I liked both but Sam wouldn't touch them. The croquettes were especially good with garlic and served with SCD mayo.....yum! Also the cashew butter muffins are a yummy way to get eggs and nut butter. There's also the chicken pancakes and chicken muffins from the pecanbread site. Sam wouldn't eat those either, so I bet your little one would love them! I am assuming that you cannot do nut flours yet, but the midas gold waffles are great and I have successfully doubled the mixed nut pancakes/flat bread recipe and cooked flat on a 13x9 pan to make bread. Sam loves a pb sandwich with this. It's also a good way to cook pancakes all at once; I hate standing over the stove trying to flip SCD pancakes! I haven't gotten it right yet without it taking hours to get them all cooked! LOL Good luck with your food experiments; there defintely lots of us here who understand. Guest guest
Help! I too am having problems with my 4 yr old and sensory issues with meat! Even meat he used to eat, he screams when he sees it on the plate. I have tried forcing him to eat it with a fruit chaser, which works sometimes and other times he gags and throws up everywhere! I don't know what else to do. , mom to Jack (ASD 4.5 yrs)

Even > meat he used to eat, he screams when he sees it on the plate. Have you tried cooking chicken, either boiling in a pot or cooking in a crock pot, until it is literally falling apart in strings? Same with beef? Luke will literally eat one string at a time. He doesn't like to have to chew his meat, at ALL, he'll gag too. Also, fish works well for him because it just mashes down without need for real chewing. Carol's idea of hiding it in muffins or pancakes it excellent, if you can add other things to cover the flavor. in NC Mom of Luke, age 5, Asperger's/low-salicylate; , age 3; and , 23 mos All SCD since 1/26/04 No Mom is an island. but sometimes she needs one! " What about the chicken pancakes or chicken cupcake recipes on pecanbread.com? You can't see the meat. Maybe he would eat it.
