Guest guest
I'd like to add my concern to Elaine's email. I'm trying to use Fitday and wondering what the guidelines are for a 3 year old child with respect to how many total calories he should eat. and how many grams each of carbs, fat and protein. For example, if he eats 1000 calories/day and roughly 50% are from fat and 25% each of protein and carbs, is that ok? The fat comes only from nut flour and meat and olive oil for cooking. How many pieces of fruit/day would be advisable? My son has been very sleepy. unable to keep his head up sometimes during meals. I wonder if some of this is die-off. IMPORTANT!!sugar levels Just a note to say my sons god parent is a staff nurse, in dialysis ward. I was speaking with her today and saying im going to have a go at the diet, she told me as a word of precaution not to let his sugar levels drop to low is it would be bad for him, asked how i would i know if they had... she said very sleepy, headache, sick etc.. or worse.. on the whole she agrees it would be great to do just that, the point she asked me about, and with me being new and starting this week could not answer the question but made me think, If he is getting enough natural sugar everyday then great, SHE WAS NOT SAYING ANYTHING BAD about the diet, just concern as a special friend and god parent. Every child is different so she could not tell me the amount he would need, and only way to tell is by testing his blood sugar levels. This causes me a concern, as obviousely dont want to add to his problems. Is there a guidance on this matter as not come accross it yet in reading Elaine's page. Hope you can enlighten me and put my mind at rest. Louise (son > 3.3 yrs old, SCD one week) > A few days ago a list of legal carb rich foods was posted such as pear, banana and avocado.. So a few things from that list would quickly add up to 130 grams which I believe Jody mentioned was the recommended RDA. I am not sure if one has to be included with each meal to keep blood sugar ingestion level. Carol F. Celiac, SCD 2 3/4 years
Guest guest
Thanks, Carol. I don't know if I was subscribed when that list was posted. Is there someplace where I could see the list of RDA for carbs, protein and fats for a 3 year old child? You might also want to check with your pediatrician. > > > Is there someplace where I could see the list of RDA for carbs, protein and > fats for a 3 year old child? > Carol F.
