Guest guest
I started Acidophilous with my son yesterday. He had a " noisy day " (humming, making low pitch sounds). Today he seems not so noisy after he had a large BM. I could hear lots of gas coming out. Stool looked like short light colored 1/2 " wide rods... pretty much like it looked like a couple of weeks ago when I gave him baked almond flour (in cookies). Yesterday morning and the day before yesterday he had the Golden waffles from pecanbread.com. Now I don't know if the " loose stool " is due to probiotics or the almond flour. Good news!!!!! We had an abdominal X-ray, and his intestine, although still containing a lot of stool looked A LOT BETTER!!! It was not to the point of distension as when we started SCD!!!! I am very encouraged!!! Guest guest
Sue, I don't know if I gave him too much. What I did is to dilute 1/2 scoop in 1 cup of water. Then from that cup, I used about 1/4 to mix with 3/4 cup of water for the first 2 days (I also had one cup the first day, but it is so expensive that I better save it for him!). Today I gave him a little bit of apple juice with the water and acidophilous. He didn't want to drink it at first, because it is bitter, but he finished it up!!! His stomach seems a lot flatter... No poop today yet. Now what is the recommended amount? I read that Kathy gave her daughter 3 scoops a day, and she finally got formed stools! I think BTVC says to not use more than 9 Billion a day??? The Custom Probiotics I have is 100 Billion/mg. 1 scoop is .8 mg, so it is 80 billion. 1/4 of that, is 20 Billion, which is what our doctor recommended (of UltraFlora...) Guest guest
Knudson's " real apple juice " - I put probably about 1 oz. out of the 6-8 that he drank. Coral
Guest guest
> Hi, > > We have been doing Probiotics since Monday... A long long week... But if you have gone this long, something is " too much " for him, in my opinion. You realyl don't want to have to live thru this kind of behavior - something is bothering your son. You could try activated charcoal. The capsules are not particularly small, I think mine are the 'size 0' kind, but you can open them and put the charcoal in water, or food. It looks awful (its black), but I don't think it tastes much. Give it a couple hours away from medcines or other supps because it absorbs everything. You could also try stopping or cutting WAAAAY back on the probiotics. I guess at this stage I would try stopping altogether, see if you can get his behavior calmed/back to normal. Then if you want to try again, you could try mixing that small amount of probiotic powder into some (an ounce?) of water, then give him just a tsp or so of the water. This would be a way to start at even a lower dose. Someone else may have a better idea what may be going on. -- Sue, mom to Adam and
