I am almost afraid to advise you but will try.

The GFCF things you mention won't work for SCD but there are plenty of other

carbohydrate choices. And you can ease in gradually or start pure SCD.

It takes picky eaters a while to come around but a flock of parents will tell

you their successful Picky Prince and Princess adventures.

Hide meat and chicken, ground up into pancakes. See the recipe section of

the website.

Squash chips or fries may tempt him. Pear or Apple pancakes are a possibility

for you. Gelatin made from fruit juice is an option.

We usually don't introduce raw fruits and veggies until after days of the

" intro " diet but juicing is used later on if desired. Are you diluting juices

with water? Otherwise they give a rapid infusion of sugar. it sounds like

your child is very dependent on carbohydrates.

I'm going to yield the floor to Sheila and Sue for more effective suggestions.

Hi ,

Have you had a chance to take a good look at www.pecanbread.com yet?

There is a lot of help for getting started and ideas for

transitioning - especially from GFCF where a lot of us started. The

website is an amazing resource and includes a huge section on recipes

and food suggestions.

Most of the cookies I've tried are pretty cakey and I'm lucky that

likes them. Maybe your guy will develop a taste for them -

most kids do change their tastes pretty quickly after starting SCD.

It's great that he likes the veggie juice.

If he likes crackers, there are some good recipes and they all

include veggies, I think. The truth is, I think you can sneak some

veggies into almost anything! What kind of meat does he eat? I grate

zuchinni into 's ground meat and he doesn't even notice. Does

he like smoothie type concoctions? I actually put a little avacado in

's smoothies and they aren't bad.

I've heard that you can crisp up some of the cookies by turning the

oven down when they are done and letting them sit in there for a

while.

Why don't you check out some of the recipes on pecanbread and

www.scdrecip.com and then be sure to ask some specific questions when

you see what's there?

At the beginning of the diet all fruits and veggies should be peeled

The probio gold is an illegal probiotic because it contains

bacterial strains not recommended by Elaine. Especially the bifidum

You may have some luck with making some of the cookie recipes and

let them dry out in the oven (low heat) or in a dehydrator. Or how

about some of the muffin recipes baked as cookie dough or thin like

crackers and allowed to dry out some in the oven and maybe even

toasted a little to give it some crunch.

these cookies come out very crispy,

Pecan Cookies:

(makes about 10 small cookies)

1 pear, cored and peeled

1 tsp gelatin, 3 Tbs boiling water

1/8 tsp baking soda

pinch of salt

pinch of nutmeg or cloves or cinnamon (optional)

1 1/2 c pecan flour ( I make my own using rotary cheese grater)

1. Cook pear in little water, until soft. Put in fine strainer and

mash with the back of the spoon. You want to get rid of as much

liquid as you can. You should end up with about 1/3 c of pear pulp

2. In a small bowl dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Put in the

freezer to slightly gel for about 4-5 min. Bring out of the freezer

and beat like an egg (till frothy)

3. Combine gelatin mixture, pear, b.soda, salt, and spices and mix

well.Add pecan flour and mix till combined.

4. Shape the cookies into small balls and flatten with the fork.

Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper

5. Bake at 325F for about 45 min

They are just slightly sweet, you can add 1 tsp honey if you want,

but I like them like this
