Guest guest
I gave my son red grapes tonight for the first time in a few months, and about 20 minutes later he was scratching his head saying he had bugs on his hair, and he was soooo hyperactive, babbling, and red cheeked. What is it about the red fruits that seems to do this? Is it the phenol? Will this get better after longer on the diet, do you think? Also, Carol, thank you for the raw foods info. I appreciate that. My son seems to be doing fine on raw now actually, no diarrhea or really loose stool anymore since a day or two after the SCD. Same thing happened with me when I started it. I was better within days, and never really did the full " starter " diet. Is it better to keep doing the starter even though diarrhea is not present? Does it help to heal faster if you do it that way? We were already casein/gluten free for a month or two prior to starting also. We haven't done eggs yet, because he was allergic pretty highly a few months ago. Also, he seems to respond well to the juicing, and I don't dilute it. I guess each person is different. It's good to know I am not alone in all of this. Although my son did not have some of the " classic " autistic symptoms such as no language and no physical closeness with others, he was getting strong autistic spectrum tendencies and I believe was headed there more and more. His stool test showed substantial inflammation in his intestines indicating some form of bowel disease activity. I just don't know which one, and I really don't want to put him through a scope at his young age. Any advice for that? I am so thankful for this knowledge, and I want to encourage you all that you are doing a wonderful thing for your children. Though they may never fully realize your sacrifice and love, it will be well worth it one day. I know in my heart that the foods we choose and eat can heal our bodies or hurt us. My life has proved that over and over. And I try to remember that we are helping to give our children a better life, a hope and a future that will be so wonderful, if we just keep believing. We can go against the world, so to speak. It is imperative to press on. I pray this encourages someone tonight somewhere... Be encouraged and the Lord bless you each and every one tonight. Know that He is ultimately in control, and loves our children abundantly more than even we do. Tina SCD 1 week, Abraham and Micah too.
