Guest guest
Thank you both for taking the time to respond to my question and concerns. I really appreciate the time you took in order to give me your perspective, and the reasoning for the diet an exercise. I can see how it can be beneficial to some people. For me, it is a book I wont be reading. I am working with a therapist who specializes in eating disorders for many years, and knows my history. Part of my recovery process is to not weigh myself and not to count calories, or get plugged into figuring out balanced nutrition. Those are things which fuel my diet mentality, and another way I can go unconscious, giving the decision what I should eat to someone or something else. I appreciate the authors desire to get the right information out to the public, but this is a catch 22 for me, because I will have the tendency to make them the authority, and follow their directions rather than what I am wanting to eat, how much, and when. I am real happy with how the process of IE has been going for me. I am emotionally at peace and physically feel good with the food choices I have been making. I dont feel qualified to write a review on this book, because I have not read it thoroughly. Maybe a reference that this book does include nutrition and exercise with some of Gillian's thoughts on that part of the book. Then people can make a more informed choice. Guest guest
Absolutely understood Dana, and for sure appreciated too!! IE is about what works FOR YOU. YOU are the 'expert' and one that needs listening to, not external experts who would like for you to follow the 'scientific rationals'. I do feel you are qualified to review any book you read. It is your genuine response and as you found out, you aren't alone in having it either (me too!). That said, I do hope you will continue to find a book that you do connect with. I found Overcoming Overeating to be the best start for me. The IE book is 'solid' for information, but its not THE only one for sure. If you get a chance, do look at the Book List here and if you don't see a review, just ask away here - I'm sure you will get feedback BEFORE you buy/read. Thanks again - Katcha > > Thank you both for taking the time to respond to my question and concerns.
