Guest guest
Do a search on deja.com as well. Apparently some poeple think ear candles are great while others think that it hasn't done much for them.. (maybe it depends on the type of wax the person has in his/her ear... I don't know). Read a story about one woman who got a virus infection in her ear after doing ear candeling (who knows). Common sense tells me that it will get a lot of the loose stuff out, but will have a hard time getting the sticky stuff. I probably won't try it because I don't think it's needed (some ear wax apparently is good for you, I think. Keeps some of the bad stuff out, and helps clean out the dirt and bacteria). > i would check the internet, i got mine there but it has been a while so i > don't know what site. So the bad stuff can be eliminated and then the good stuff will be regenerated. Just thought I'd pass that along, in health,
Guest guest
We've used these quite a lot with our son and are amazed at all the " gunk " that comes out. Guest guest
The ear candle thing sounds great but the junk that comes out is unburnt candle, not from the ear: http://www.usanest.org/faq.htm#3 Great FAQ page on the whole ear candle thing. Guest guest
I offten use ear candles on my infected ear.. It sucks out alot of the drainage and earwax.. Do alittle search of your own on these, You can get them at GNC or health stores Hi Crystal Sorry to put a dampener on this but here's what it says on the candling link provided by the GNC site you referred to: Are there people who should not be candled? Anyone who has had recent ear or sinus surgery, tubes, bleeding or draining of fluids from the ear, or an ear drum perforation should not ear candle. Any current serious ear or sinus problem should always be brought to the attention of an ear, nose and throat doctor..Now since you already mentioned that you've been having bleeding and other drainage it's fair to assume that you have a perforated eardrum I don't think that you should go anywhere near candling, at least not without taking proper medical advice. And I don't think you would ever find an ENT doctor to sanction the use of candling. Most of the medical and scientific opinion regarding candling asserts that it is bogus. It can have soothing, psychological benefits but that the claims that it can eliminate earwax or anything else are false. Hence: "Since wax is sticky, the negative pressure needed to pull wax from the canal would have to be so powerful that it would rupture the eardrum in the process. However, candling produces no vacuum." They also claim that whatever debris seems to have been drawn from the ear is actually discoloured wax from the candle itsel. There could also there could be a danger from burning wax entering the ear canal if the candling is done incorrectly. Candling is probably harmless in most people who have no discernable ear problems but for those with serious ear disease it should be avoided. Here is another advice list from one of the pro-candling websites:. Contraindications of ear candles: recent ear surgery. cysts in the ear. mastoiditis in its acute phase. ear drains (tubes). otosclerosis. ankylosis of the stapes. paracentesis. acquired hearing loss. congenital hearing loss. tumour of the ear. perforated eardrums Treatment must be refused to all individuals who present themselves with one of these contraindications. Guest guest
I used to use ear candles all the time, and they did help unclog an ear full of wax, and I used them on my children at the time and it did take care of an ear ache or two when they had excessive wax to blame for the situation. But then I couldn't find the brand I had been using and all the ones I had used since then seem to be more waxy and less effective. I've switched to the over the counter ear wax removal solutions because the last time I went to the ear doc he found some type of debris in my ear and it was stuck to my ear drum, and I didn't want to say anything to him at the time, but I think it was from the ear candle. Also, I think years ago I was trying to remove that " full feeling " - thinking it was wax. Now I realize it was probably the middle ear problem, which the ear candle obviously wouldn't help. Knowing what I know now about my own situation, I probably won't use them again. Jan

Guest guest
hey guys - I know I spoke of this before but I am scheduled to have the ear candling done tomorrow morning. They say it is very relaxing and helps make your head feel cleared. Has anyone ever had this done and if so how is it? For some reason I am kinda nervous for this. I guess just because I feel pretty good and I do not want to do anything to make me feel bad. Any sugestions. My appointment is for tomorrow morning. Guest guest
I have had it done and also used to do it myself to my Massage clients. If done right it is a relaxing experienced and some people will be amazed at what it will pull out. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't last long enough. It kinda sounds like when you put a shell to your ear and hear " the ocean " . But you can hear the crackling of the wax burning. I think you will enjoy it. > > hey guys - I know I spoke of this before but I am scheduled to have the > ear candling done tomorrow morning. Guest guest
Hi Tommygirl, I've had ear candling done a few times and absolutely love it! It is so relaxing and they massage your neck at the same time. You'll be amazed how much gross stuff comes out!! I did this when I was first ill and had tremendous pressure in my eyes, head and ears. Really helped with those symptoms and my hearing seemed much sharper. - PH > > hey guys - I know I spoke of this before but I am scheduled to have the > ear candling done tomorrow morning. Guest guest
I had this done and it seemed to work somewhat... I would be scared to do it to often though, since it pulls out ear wax that we need and our sick bodies have a hard time working properly... I have had horrible ear problems with implants and seriously if your ears don't hurt I would not do it... I think my ears are so much worse since getting them, it could be a coincidence, I don't know... Read sites on ear candles prior to doing it... I know it clogged my ear drum and I couldn't hear for weeks, finally went to my doctor and they had to irragate my ear with a machine... OUCH!!!! Well Good Luck and I hope they work for you, but if no problems I would not advise it... I just had serious pain with my ears and wanted some relief.... I think my ears were damaged from infection, fungus and bacteria growing in my implants so long, all right side symptoms... Same side infection was in my implants...
