Guest guest
As a hygienist, I can tell you that they can use " flour of pumice " to polish-this is in every dental office and is used for many things. As to the flouride, I have " painted " the flouride on the biting surface of the back teeth and wiped it off after the minute requirement with a piece of gauze. I would only do one section of the mouth at a time. It is extremely important to strengthen the teeth most prone to decay with flouride. I would hate to see these kids put through a tramatic filling. Prevention is crucial. I have also had an assistant to make things go faster. Just call your dentist before your appt. and discuss your needs. Cheri Mom to Brent-ASD 6yrs. SCD 3mo. Victor ADD? 8yrs. Guest guest
I don't remember seeing this discussed on this list before. My son is due for his six-month dental check-up. During his last visit, while he was GFCF but not yet on the SCD, I asked about the polish that they use and called the manufacturer to make sure that it was GFCF. They told me that it was. However, I wouldn't expect it to be legal on the SCD. Is there a legal dental polish out there? Or is it best to skip the polish altogether? I'm planning to skip the fluoride treatment. Guest guest
Bummer! I had my son's teeth cleaned last Wednesday, and I didn't even think of the products they may have used in his mouth... The only thing I know is that they were able to take X-rays for the first time EVER in his 9 years of life, not having been knocked out!!! And he came out with purple gloves on and a mask. The higienists were all laughthing because he had asked them all to lay down and open their mouths for " Dr. J " !!!! He even wanted the real instruments!!! He is just so much more aware and receptive to the environment now!!! (pray everyone, Sunday it will be his First Communion day! The Catholic newspaper is going to come and take pictures... I talked to the journalist about the SCD diet, but I don't know if he will go into all sorts of detail, or if they will only publish a picture and a caption) Coral SCD (almost 4 weeks)
