I hope they will carry it. I haven't tried the chai yet as I need to go to Costco adn buy milk, among other things. Beer and coke, actually. Is it in a liquid form that you add milk to? Guest guest
Thanks Will for the recipe. Previously I used the Oregon Chai that is commercially made. When I experienced bad side effects, I called the company but they would not answer my questions. I believe it contained MSG that caused my problems. Since that time I have avoided the product. Now perhaps I can enjoy the beverage again in a safer form. >> Re: 'yummy smoothie' >> , I suggest you skip the Oregon Chai syrup and make your >> own chai. I've been doing it for years. Not ony is the Oregon syrup EXPENSIVE, it's loaded with sugar and other BS GARBAGE you don't want. Everything they use, especially the dairy, is bad and if you order it at a coffeehouse you could get diabetes from drinking one cupful. Figure that EVERY processed food you buy is going to be inferior and more costly to what you make. --- http://USFamily.Net/dialup.html - $8.25/mo! -- http://www.usfamily.net/dsl.html - $19.99/mo! ---
Guest guest
Oh how I love Chai. We drank it everyday in India when I went there (mixed with loads of sugar and water buffalo milk) and it became my all-time favorite drink. But you really have to watch your labelsl when you buy this one....it is getting so popular that it comes in all kinds of boxes, cans of powders and mixes. Watch out for high sugars, and ESPECIALLY watch out for partially hydrogenated oils if you buy the ready-to-mix versions! I just use the plain tea bags and use a safe sweetener like stevia. I also use raw milk only. Oh yum. Makes me want a cup right now! Patty > , > > Are you loading up on Echinacea? Guest guest
Yes, I've not drank it from a coffee shop in ages. I buy the individual tea bags and IF I do add milk it's usually organic soy. I love it too. glory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: Oh how I love Chai. They are pricey, but you only need a few...once you smell them you'll know why they are a must! Fun topic. Diane
Guest guest
In spring or summer time, try strawberry/cardamom kombucha. Just a tad of cardamom. Then do you use a couple stawberries along with it? Can't wait to try it. Thanks. Diane www.peacefulacres.wordpress.com
Guest guest
Slice a two or three strawberries into your bottle. Remove the seeds from the cardamom pods and crush in a mortar and pestle. Use a very sparing pinch in each bottle. If you don;t have a mortar and pestle, try a couple of seeds and see how strong it comes out. Guest guest
Diane, and all, I am not a tea person (except for KT, of course) but you are making me want to try this! Can you tell me just what I need to do? I go buy those pods, but what else. I like your idea of making it in the milk (or your Indian friends' idea). What else do I do? what kind of tea? Sorry, I know nothing on this except I see it at the Starbucks menu. Thanks, Millie

I go buy those pods, but what else. I like your idea of making it in the milk (or your Indian friends' idea). What else do I do? what kind of tea? Honestly, anything you do will probably go. Use black tea, though -- green or white just aren't bold enough to assert themselves over the milk and spices. Other than that, try the boiled-milk recipe given earlier, or any of the recipes I've compiled at: http://blinkstwice.org/chai.txt
Guest guest
Gayla - do you do that as a second ferment? Would you just add some strawberries and a pod to the bottom of the bottle? Refrigerate? How long for fermentation? Sorry.. still learning. Re: Re: Chai In spring or summer time, try strawberry/cardamom kombucha. Just a tad of cardamom. Guest guest
Yes, on the second ferment. I don't refrigerate my kombucha, just bottle it and let it sit until we drink it, which is within a week.
