Guest guest
, Both my kids showed no obvious signs of digestive problems prior to SCD. My son had a terrible die off reaction that lasted about 10 days when he started SCD. My daughter showed no signs of a die off reaction. They both benefited from SCD. Welcome to our diet list! Guest guest
Thanks, Mimi! In between sending and reading posts, my daughter has since eaten a small amount of carrot soup (willingly), threw up shortly afterwards, and is now asleep on the bathroom floor! I haven’t seen any mention of vomiting as an indicator of die off. Is it just my bad cooking, or has anyone else experienced this reaction? _____ From: recoverymaze Sent: Sunday, May 02, 2004 2:21 PM To: pecanbread Subject: Re: Intro Diet Questions , Both my kids showed no obvious signs of digestive problems prior to SCD. Guest guest
Hi , You may or may not see diarrhea but the most common signs of die-off are fatigue, lethargy and sometimes flu-like symptoms. My daughter and husband (both with no overt bowel trouble) both experienced the fatigue part of this. They both commented that they felt exhausted. After a couple of days of this my husband and daughter's energy returned with a vengence. My husband said he felt that he had energy again like when he was a teenager. My husband has commented that when he does SCD strictly he has " magic poop " . It takes him less than a minute in the bathroom and he almost doesn't have to (please excuse the details) wipe. I don't know if two days of not eating anything is rawlly the intro. It is designed to 1.) starve the bad critters and 2.) feed the body and start the healing process. If she truly hasn't eaten anything you could start her with other SCD foods after. At the very least make sure she is hydrated. Either the diluted juices from the intro: 1/2 grape juice & water or 1/2 apple cider and 1/2 water. If she won't do this give her the electrolyte mix from http://pecanbread.com/recipes.html (It is in the drink section.) If she is more apt to drink it you could try one of the other drink ideas - soda water and juice, Oj and water, pineapple juice with water or club soda. It is very important that she not become dehyrated. To get some protein in you might try the chicken pancakes recipe from http://pecanbread.com/recipes.html (under the pancake section). If she won't eat pancakes you could bake them flat and cut into bread shapes. Spread a little nut butter and/or homemade jam or apple/pearsauce and you have a little SCD sandwich. Loads of protein in these. HTH, Sheila UC, 20 years -- in remission after 38 mos SCD mom of SCD 23 mos > digestion-wise. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, unfortunately vomiting seems to be another sign of die-off along with fatigue. Make sure she remains hydrated if vomiting increases.
