Guest guest
Hi Harvey. Let me add my welcome to the group. 1.9 to 3.5 over a short period (April to December) seems a little unusual to me. Does it coincide with when you started the ACE inhibitor, the water pill or even the fish oil? Both ACE inhibitors and water pills have been known to affect the kidney adversely. It's rare, but it happens. It's not really unusual not to feel anything. Most people don't, and we tend not to hear as much here from people who feel well. Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome Pierre, I’ve been on my all my meds from the get go in 98. It took several blood pressure meds before we found the right one. I haven’t done anything as far as med change in the past 4 ½ years. Your guess is as good as mine. I have to go back to see the Doc after the first of the year to find out if my second test in December is still high. I guess we will see. Harvey Re: New to the group: Hi Harvey. Guest guest
It's an immune system suppressant. For kidney transplants, it can be part of the daily regimen of anti-rejection meds. For people who have kidney disease (from mild to advanced), it's primarily used to deal with heavy proteinuria, when steroids haven't worked. Like steroids (prednisone), it's also sometimes tried to see if it will help slow down more aggressive IgAN. It has also been experimented with to see if it might help slow down even milder IgAN.
