When on the SCD diet, my 3 year old began dehydrating

We did some blood work and it seems " normal " is 18 and tested

at 15. These numbers relate to the test for dehydration. 15 is

very low. My husband wanted to give her Pedialyte immediately

because he was afraid of electrolyte loss due to blow out diahhrea

for 5 days and she has hardly eaten, is listliss, very tired, losing

weight, and just wants to be held and go to sleep. She is normally a

tornado! She is drinking water,albeit small amounts. After a tel.

call to my nutritionist, we gave her a mixture of water, honey, and

salt. My husband wants me to stop philosophizing about what is going

on with her, i.e. stomach flu ? yeast die off due to the SCD diet? or

whatever and hydrate her immediately to prevent Renal failure. He

says things happen fast in young children...He now has me alarmed and

we are taking her to a " regular " pediatrician. Does anyone have

experience with deydration on the SCD diet in young children?

my husband wrote that message...i alreaady had been giving her the

drink, the symptoms lasted five days. she is getting better..then i

ended with samw and have been out of comission until today. i was so

glad

to use the drink and not have to have her go offf the sdc diet and

not loose ground.
