Guest guest
The book is terrific!! I've read it a couple of times and plan to buy my own copy. Vicki ---- Kipkabob wrote: I bought this book by Weiner on the weekend. I'm about half way through it now. It's basically about how women need to stop speaking the " language of fat " as she calls it... " Do I look fat in this?, I'm so fat, etc etc. We need to be happy with who we are and stop obsessing about our bodies! I read two chapters last night...the first was called " he'll love me if I'm thinner " about relationships and the second was " thunder thighs run in the family " about your family. One of the sections in the family chapter was called " Your parents know how to push your buttons because they installed them. " Anyway, it's a really good book about body image. It has mentioned a few times too that dieting doesn't work too. I totally recommend it! --------------------------------- Be smarter than spam. Guest guest
Another good one is: Do I Look Fat In This?: Get Over Your Body and On With Your Life Author: Rhonda Britten Vicki ---- Kipkabob wrote: I bought this book by Weiner on the weekend. Guest guest
Wow sounds like a good book! Especially since IE I have been annoyed that every time I go to eat with someone (women) the topic of weight loss is center. It's as if talking about how fat you are protects you from judgment. " I know I shouldn't eat this... I saw myself in the mirror yesterday and my butt was so big I had to use two mirrors to see it all " and comments like that. I wonder what they are thinking when they make comments like that. It doesn't stop them from eating and over-eating. It's as if they are saying, " I know I'm fat and shouldn't eat this so you don't have to tell me I'm fat and shouldn't eat this " Was that was I was thinking when I made comments like that? I don't know.... For the most part I DIDN'T make comments like that except with one friend who also struggles with her weight. It was our common bond and our ritual to go out and over-eat and talk about wanting to lose or what we shouldn't be eating. Or how we would change it " starting Monday " . With her it was sometimes a release of shame. Interesting. I bought this book by Weiner on the weekend. I'm about half way through it now. It's basically about how women need to stop speaking the " language of fat " as she calls it... Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the book suggestions. I've added these and updated the Book List in the Files section of the Group. - Katcha > > Another good one is: Do I Look Fat In This?: Get Over Your Body and On With Your Life > Author: Rhonda Britten > Vicki
