Guest guest
Hi everyone, Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep and I was wondering if anyone has taken melantonin? If so did it help you and how much did you take? Thanks
Guest guest
Steph, Did the opposite to me, but some report that it helps. I use things like Gaba, GabaCalm, Passion Flower, Calme Forte, etc. Lynda At 08:39 AM 12/2/2007, you wrote: >Hi everyone, Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep and I was >wondering if anyone has taken melantonin? Guest guest
Hi Steph, I took 1 mg nightly for the first few weeks after surgery. Helped immensely as it knocked me out, but I don't think it's something you want to take long-term. It was in high doses in my blood the next day which is the last thing you want if you're fatigued. There are probably better alternatives out there. - PH --- In , " stephie0580 " <stephie0580@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone, Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep and I was > wondering if anyone has taken melantonin? Guest guest
Thanks Lynda. My mom has some sleepy time tea so I think I'm going to try that along with the melantonin. Guest guest
Hi Carlin, I bought the 1 mg capsules too. I went back to work last week and I'm finding it hard to get a good night's sleep. I'm just hoping to take it for a few days and then hopefully my body will get used to sleeping at least 8 hrs again. Did you feel really tired the next day from it? Guest guest
Hi Steph, Yes, I felt tired the next day and so when another doc measured my blood and saw that I still had a high level of melatonin, I stopped taking it. I'm still tired 7 mos later so I think it's the candida that was causing the fatigue and not necessarily the melatonin. Regardless, every doc I've had has said to only use it short-term. It seemed as though it helped train my body to fall asleep because even after I quit taking it I'm ready for bed by 9 or 10 and out within 5 minutes. Now...if I could just find something that would help me feel alive and refreshed in the morning! - PH > > > > > > Hi everyone, Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep and I was > > > wondering if anyone has taken melantonin? Guest guest
Hey Steph- I'm having the same problem. Doesn't seem like 8 hours is good enough for me anymore. I'm really tired in the mornings, then get tired again in the afternoons. I think it is partly because our bodies are still recovering from surgery, partly because our bodies are still whacked out from not having to fight with the implants anymore, and all the chaos the implants caused. Let me know how the melatonin works for you, if you decide to try it. I looked into the canary club saliva testing and the test was like $150.00, so I didn't do it. I think I'll just have to have tests run through my regular doctor's office. How are you feeling? You sound like you are in better spirits then you have been. You must be feeling better! Yeah! Guest guest
I took Melatonin regularly at one time . . . I started feeling worse. . . Then I read an article that described exactly how I was feeling and said that one can start feeling worse after taking Melatonin for an extended period. . . I started feeling better soon after stopping it - So I have little doubt that, for me anyway, it's not a good option. Rogene
Guest guest
Hi Krista, I took 1 mg of Melantonin last night and didn't wake up once. I felt fine today and didn't feel tired from it. I'm going to skip tonight and take another one tomorrow night. I also bought sleepy time tea so I'll try some of that tonight. I may have to do the Canary tests because I called my naturopath today and right now he just wants me to do testing for candida antibodies, vitamin D, and a food panel. If I want to do testing for my hormones and thyroid, I can either wait until he feels it's necessary or pay the $150 for the Canary tests. Guest guest
StephI don't think it would hurt to take Melatonin short term . . . I'm thinking in terms of several weeks, or more, as being too long.Just be aware that it may lose it's effect for sleep, and begin making you feel bad. . . I wish I could describe how I felt better . . . But "BAD" really sums it up.Hugs,Rogene
Guest guest
Anyone taking melatonin in their cancer cure protocol? Was the dosage advised by a health practitioner? What dosage was advised? Guest guest
From my book The Melatonin Miracle: Researchers at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans have shown that melatonin can inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells. Oncologists in Milan have actually been using melatonin to treat cancer patients in conjunction with traditional chemotherapy and immunnotherapy. They have reported that melatonin-treated patients showed tumor regression and lived longer with few side effects than those who did not receive melatonin. To see which melatonin I would recommend see www.detoxqueen.com. The new Fast2Sleep formula delivers melatonin in a much more effective manner than anything else currently on the market. Take it 5 days in a row and take 2 days off. Some people will fill their reserves and won't need it anymore. The type A personalities will likely need to stay on it since they " burn " it up more. Melatonin is probably the strongest free radical scavenger that exists. Studies also show that people with ADD/ADHD are very depleted of this and supplementation makes symptoms go away in a large percentage of children that were in the study. This was told to me verbally by the formulator of the Fast2Sleep product and since it's so new I haven't had a chance to go and do all the research on the studies yet but thought I'd put it out here anyway in case anyone is in this situation. Guest guest
Hi, The recommendation I received from Block, MD who practices integrative medicine, was 3mg to 20 mg per night. Start at 3mg and increase until the desired effect is achieved. I have been taking it for almost five years and typically, depending on how tired I am, I take anywhere from 12mg to 18mg nightly. Warmly, --- CC <yodapurrs-2@...> wrote: > Anyone taking melatonin in their cancer cure > protocol? > Was the dosage advised by a health practitioner? > What dosage was advised? Guest guest
My Kaiser Dr also recommended melantonin. I took 6mg for couple of nights - it did not put me to sleep, but I did have panic attack both nights. I stopped taking it, but about week later did 12mg per night. Did sleep for about 4 hours, but had most fuzzy day afterwards. Any bad reactions from anyone else? Should I be taking something else with it. I do take endless suplements, but earlier in the day. Guest guest
Hi Gloria, My ND said the grogginess should only last a few weeks and then stop. I was actually starting to do better with it, when my work schedule changed. Guest guest
You could get the glycine from taking beef gelatin, which I take to improve my nail strength, and hopefully help my cartilage in my joints. Guest guest
, Beef gelatin? Hope it does not contain mad cow disease. I think, beef gelatin is made from boiling bone marrow or cartillage. I stay away from beef these days after the latest news about sick cows making it to the food chains and being recalled after most of the stock has been sold. I now realize we all have to look out on our own and not rely on others to protect us.
