Guest guest
Leanne, Many women do not feel better immediately, that is true. But they do feel better in the long run, and the alternative is to keep them in and keep getting worse. You are having the same doubts many women have had. But the truth is, they are toxic to your system and I think you know this in your heart. Guest guest
Hi Leanne, I'm not sure what your symptoms are, but if your illness is chronic, it's likely those issues will not go away without explant. Implants break down your immune system, making it harder to recover. Having second thoughts is normal, but if you are sick now, you will not be able to recover unless your implants are removed. Yes, many of us are still sick after explant because it takes our bodies time to heal from the toxins, but through diet and detox, many recover completely. The longer you keep them the more severe your symptoms may become. If you're even slightly worried that they may be causing your problems, isn't it best to get them out? That fear alone of always wondering can lead to greater illness. Yes, I'm used to being small again because my health has suffered so much that I focus more on regaining it than on breast size. I used to be so self-conscious about my body...that it had to look " just right " . Not anymore. When my husband sees me now, I don't care what he or anyone thinks, I am who I am...not that he ever had an issue w/ my body one way or the other. He didn't...it was just me. You question whether you would be doing this for nothing...you'd be doing it for EVERYTHING as life isn't quite the same without health. I know it's scary...we've all been in the same boat. I went through months of denial, yet I am so relieved they are out. Good luck in your decision making. Hang in there! - PH --- In , " ljaager " <ljaager@...> wrote: > > I keep having second thoughts about removing my implants. wondering if > they are the cause of allot of my health problems or not. question if > I am doing this for nothing. Guest guest
Lynda, I was also curious about the other part of Leanne's question, for the sake of a friend of mine. What is the psychological adjustment, in terms of self-image, after getting them out? Is it easier or harder than adjusting to getting them in, or about the same amount of mental adjustment? Are there any surprise joys that are found that make the transition easier than expected? (e.g. easier to get dressed, feel lighter, more lithe, look thinner?) About how long does this mental adjustment take? (about the same as adjusting to getting them in?) My friend tells me she was very self-conscious after getting her implants, and even now (years later) she still dresses in a way that "disguises" them (except on weekends). Does a certain amount of self-consciousness go away after getting them out, providing an unexpected mental relief? I know it's probably different from woman to woman, but are there any norms related to body image adjustment after getting them out? Ballerina Re: Krista getting nervous about surgery in 2 weeks...how are you feelling?? Leanne,Many women do not feel better immediately, that is true. Guest guest
Hi Leanne- I was JUST thinking about you yesterday. You haven't posted in awhile, so I was wondering how you were doing. I know you are 2 weeks out from surgery now. This was the hardest part of the journey for me too, about 1-2 weeks pre-op. I'm pretty sure that I posted something exactly like this one week before my surgery. I knew I wasn't going to chicken out (like you) but I sure was nervous about how I was going to feel about having my itty bittys back! I'm not going to lie to, no longer having the implants IS difficult on me. When I look down and see my double A's sitting there, I do get a little sad, and I do indeed miss them. But, every time I think about how sad I am that I no longer have nice, round breasts I remind myself that the nice round breasts were never " mine " to begin with. I wasn't born with nice, round breasts like some women were, and I think sometimes that is what makes me the most sad. I never could accept that for a long time, which is why I got the implants in the first place, to feel like I had what I thought every other women on the planet had except for me. The truth is...with the implants it never really gave me that ultimate satisfaction, I always knew in my heart that the implants didn't give me big, round breasts like I thought they would. They might have given the ILLUSION that I had them, but deep down I knew they were just two man-made bags of plastic and chemicals that I had chosen and paid to have implanted into my body. The realization of that, is what gave me the courage to have them taken out. The realization that our bodies were never meant to have anything implanted into them. The truth is is that I am so happy not to have to worry about them making me sick ever again. When I started to get sick, I refused to believe it was the implants... " salt water? " come on? But, I knew deep down in my gut that is was the implants....just as you do. Why some women never have any symptoms after getting implants, I will never know. But the truth is, so many of our bodies just do like these things in them and they will continue to tell us so until we have them removed. The second week after the surgery was the hardest on me. The first week, you are still taking the drugs and everything seems okay. But, the second week a lot of my symptoms came back FULL ON! However, now I am going into my 4th week (I am 3 weeks post-op today) and I feel 60% better. My left side pain is 75% gone, my strange flu-like aches and pains are 75% gone, my hair has stopped falling out at alarming rates, my WBC count is back down to normal (went from 10.5 to 5.5 from August to 3 days ago, thank God!,) my blood pressure is down to normal, my brain fog is GONE. I do have a few lingering stubborn symptoms such as fatigue (I still need a lot of sleep,) swollen lymph nodes, digestive problems (this has always been an issue though,) but YES I feel better! I know with time and detoxing ALL of these symptoms will be gone. I know that you are scared, trust me, I was JUST in your shoes. But, keeping the implants in your body, even if they aren't the root cause of your symptoms (more then likely they are though) won't help your health in the long run. Getting the implants out is the first step in the healing process. Everything after that is down hill, you just have to get over that first terrible hump. To adjust to being back to my itty bitty size, I went and bought some nice new bras. 5-10 years ago they made so few double A bras, I would get so frustrated that I would just buy anything and make it work. Now, they make many more double A's. So, after your explant go out and buy so nice, pretty bras, that fit well and that you are comfortable in. I have some padded bras that are great. Only my hubby knows that that there isn't much boobie and he doesn't care! Also, my husband tells me all the time that I beautiful woman isn't one with a perfect body and big, perfect round breasts. A beautiful woman is one that is CONFIDENT and healthy!! Words we can all live by! You'll be fine, Leanne and I KNOW after the explant you will feel better just know there aren't toxic bags in you making you sick. We'll all get you through this, I promise!!! Guest guest
Good Luck to you Leanne, Im feeling some of the same things but not quite as close to getting them out. Not only will our health improve but you also wont have to ever worry about another surgery for replacents down the road and the chance of more complications from all the surgeries. They are foregn objects and I think that the main thing our body does not and will never except them. Guest guest
Ballerina, I would say that would be pretty individual, if the woman was very ill, her psychological adjustment might just be easier and faster, as she feels better and knows she has done what was right for her health. Some people have very serious body image problems and might need to see a therapist. Some women are just relieved and love their new soft breasts and the normal feel so much, they don't need much time to adjust. It is so individual. Some women are actually have far more adjustments, mentally, after getting them. I would say the only norm is no norm. Guest guest
Leanne, Good luck my dear! I am two weeks post op and doing ok. Are you just having explant or are you having other things done too? I had a lift and fat transfers with my explant. It's took a bit of a toll one me. I do have to say, I do love my new breasts! Much better than with the implants. They feel like real breats again. My implants were very hard. Guest guest
Leanne, When I was approaching my explant, I was on a real roller coaster ride - one day I was sure the implants were the root of the problem, the next I wasn't. I'm not an overly religious person but am deeply spiritual, so while I was visiting a hospital I went to their little chapel and just asked for peace, and if getting the implants was the right thing to do, then allow me to be confident in that decision. From that point on I never waivered. I've been explanted for two years and I have never regretted it. I love being small like I always was. Physical healing has been slow because I have always had a weak immune system, but I still feel better than I did - both mentally and physically. My husband was not supportive of explant (because we just paid $6000 to have them put in 6 months before) and when I told him I had two options - surgery or suicide, he listened. My thought was even if the damage that was done could not be reversed, I knew I would not continually get worse. I was getting worse on a daily basis when I had them in, and having them removed was the best thing I have ever done. Guest guest
Leanne,From what I've seen, the women in this group aren't suffering psychologically at all. . . There's no doubt that some women do feel traumatized - but they don't have a support group like ours! By the time our women reach the explant stage, they've come to the realization that fake boobs aren't comfortable, healthy, or beautiful! . . . They've chosen health over toxic boobs and are confident they've made the right choice. You're going to do fine. . . . I know your hubby is putting doubts in your head . . . Just do what you know is right for you!Natural is in! . . . Just wish women could learn this before going through the implant experience!Hugs and prayers,Rogene Re: Krista getting nervous about surgery in 2 weeks...how are you feelling??
