Guest guest
I don't know your situation, but I am at home a lot, so I peel them but don't core, then put in a crock pot with a little water. Let them cook till very soft, don't know how long. Then it's a breeze to core, slice, puree, whatever it is you're wanting to do. Takes longer total time but takes less standing-there-in-the-kitchen time, if that makes sense. in NC, USA mom to Luke, 5, Asperger's/low-salicylate; , 3;,22 mos; SCD going since 1/26/

How do you prepare them to be cooked and how long? " Due to time constrain, I cook most of the fruit stove top. I do in large batches so it lasts a couple of days. If I make a larger portion, I place some in a freezer and make ice pops. My son's favorites are pear and mango. Just peel, slice and place on a pot with some water, let it simmer for a little while till tender, and I put thru a blender, without the liquid. Use the liquid to make jello. I do not add any flavoring, as the fruits are flavorful enough for my son. The fruit pops are a real treat for him. If your child does not have a salicylate intolerance you can slowly add pineapple, strawberry, apples, pretty much any fruit that are scd legal.Hope this helps.
