Guest guest
Ann-Marie.... if there EVER was a nun who could shake up the hierarchy in Rome, it would be YOU! But... promise me that before you go to Rome you'll stop by Calif. and pick me up.... I wouldn't miss that for all the tea in China...LOL Hope you had a great day. Take care, Vicki
Guest guest
I wouldn't mind shaking them up, too. Nearly did when my ex petitioned for an annulment so he could marry a " good Catholic " woman (only his 3rd try.) I found the whole process so insulting...I began a campaign to fight the Catholic Church's process. Even went so far as to enlist the assistance of Vitoli, an author who has written against the process...then I sort of had my own little miracle during the proceedings and realized none of this had anything to do with God. Asked the priest where I could turn in my Baptismal certificate (sorry, Ann-Marie!) and walked away and never looked back. We go through a lot sometimes...but it's been an eye-opener I wouldn't have missed! Catholic church or Islam...not sure which treats women worse. And we could, and do, do so much and bring so much to our faith. Sorry to digress... Guest guest
Amen to that Lynn... It's high time the Catholics joined in with the changing times... A WOMAN needs to be the Pope! Enough said! Vicki

Guest guest
Lynn--sorry you had such a bad experience with the annulment process. Many do, including my sister who is Presbyterian now. I think a lot depends on who is working with you--I have a really good friend (a sister in my community) who is a pastoral worker in a parish and works with lots of individuals on annulments. She cries with them (of course, she's a woman, so..................) Ann-Marie P.S. Everyone--I DO love the Church but not the bull____. So many have been hurt by "red tape" or insensitivity by priests and nuns in their pasts. I refer to these folks as "recovering Catholics" and always tell them how sorry I am about whatever negative experience they've had. I hope in some way this gives them a "different ending.." Guest guest
Geez, Ann-Marie, now I feel bad for spouting off like that! Could I blame the Pred...naw...actually, there are no more hard feelings about it. I dealt with a nasty priest in the St. Louis diocese...well, maybe not nasty...high falutin', if you get my drift...you are just a woman kind of attitude. Oh, believe me, I gave him several pieces of my mind. And he never once gave me an adequate response about the legitimacy of the children...In his defense or ?, the annulment was granted to me...my ex was found severely lacking in proper intentions within the framework of matrimony and the sacraments. Actually, it was a healing time for me...I got right with a lot of stuff! Now, my walk with Him is better than ever. And when I need ritual...there is the church...I still love the Latin mass. Just may have located a local church that still offers one. I just wish to goodness those stuffed shirts in Rome realized we women have so much to contribute...the Episcopalians don't have any problems with it! And since we stole most of their music, you'd think we could steal a little of that attitude from 'em, too! Hugs to you, Ann-Marie...and how are you feeling these days??? Guest guest
Dear Anne-Marie, What a beautiful response to Lynn. If the Catholic church had more people like you to represent the religion, there would be much more to appreciate within the church. You are a wonderful representative of what it should mean to serve God.
